Dvd Player on PC Wont Play Dvd's. HELP! (Please.)

Had this problem for a while now, but dont really watch Dvd's on the PC so never got to the bottom of it, tho im at the stage now tho where its starting to bug me! It seems to play some dvd's ok - like the ones you get free in the paper, but when I try and play a normal full length dvd, this message appears:

"Windows Media Player cannot play this dvd because there is a problem with the digital copy protection between your dvd drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."

I spoke to Gateway about this problem when it first came about and they thought it was something to do with a particular programme installed on the PC, possibly Mcaffey but that was taken off and the problem was still there. After a few days of messing about uninstalling programmes, and hours on the phone I gave up!

Any help or advise will be gladly taken. Thanks in advance.

I have just tried to download the software youve recommended, and im now getting the message:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Any ideas?

is that you cant download the software mentioned or this is the message you get now after you have installed?

if its you cant download the software just google search the codecs pack.

also look on the internet for windows media player classic, it is amazing.

Or even easier get VLC media player its free and plays pretty much everything including avi's and MP4 and dvds etc.

Again google is your friend lol

go to add/remove windows components, then uninstall the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security component.

This should help you out with this problem.

Ive just installed VLC Media Player as advised by ryouga and its worked! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
