its not a bad base to begin upgrading, throw in a graphics card, of course install an OS, and maybe later on when you feel you can justify the spend put in an quad/i5

Shared graphics aren't all that good, but for a lot of people who are not hard core gamers, they are perfectly reasonable. You can also install a Linux distribution (I'd recommend Debian personally) then there's nothing extra to shell out for.

Before everyone complains about using Linux, you really should try it first. Linux + Open Office (also free) gives Windows 7 and Office 2007 a pretty good run for it's money, and considering the price differential - it's a steal !

So is it still possible to put in a decent GPU to play all the lates gamest in reasonable settings? If so, what would be the best graphics card to put in?

God knows what sort of case, power supply, RAM and motherboard you are getting on a cheap system like this and only 1 year warranty.
For very little more (£15) you could build you own at Scan with named components from major manufacturers (Asus, Silverstone, Hitachi, Corsair) with longer warranties. E.g. 3 years for CPU, Mobo, HDD and longer for the RAM.

Good price for a decent spec, the E6300 chip is a good option as it supports Virtualization and is quicker than many C2Ds (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...00+%40+2.80GHz). I've been on the looking for a base unit to replace my ageing Pentium 4.

Chucking in a decent GPU will depend on the power supply installed in the machine. Mine turns up on Thursday so I can give you detailed specs and photos then...!

I think it's fair to say you get what you pay for, and if you're after a cheap and cheerful machine then I'd say it's a good deal. I think your comment about a cheap system also applies to the hundreds of cheap Dells that appear and go hot on HUKD.

I've just read through the ebuyer product discussion on here: http://forums.ebuyer.com/showthread.php?t=53387

Motherboard - Foxconn G31MX-K
PSU - Only 250w

The PSU is fairly weak to work on good GPUs, but someone said that they can work with the e-save edition?

Maybe worth considering this

With Q8300 2.5GHz for £285.25, tempted to get this and just swap the processor with my current E6600.
