15% off EDF Energy for People on Income Support ETC

STARTS: 18/11/2009   

EDF won't advertise this but if you are receiving benifits such as Income Support you are entitled to receive a 15% discount on your EDF energy bill.

I just phoned up ( on 0800 0962270 ) and said I look after a disabled person, is he entitled to any discount on his bill as he has low income. They took his national insurance number and date of birth from me and his tarriff was changed immediatly with a nice 15% discount.

its a total shame that people can ''abuse'' things like this, and the genuine people then feel awful for being entitled, imo its a hot deal for GENUINE peeps!

I bed it's for the elderly and disabled only. Most energy companies have a special tarrif for the disabled over 50's.

It really isn't - I looked into it more you can also get it if you get tax credits or if your classed as "fuel poor" which means 15% of your income goes towards your energy bills.

I am with Southern electric for elec and gas and i get a 20% discount, you get a cheque sent out every 3 months for each qualifying period. With southern you are tied into a 2 year deal with it and you have to do an over the phone questionaire for eligibility that and they must be able to see you spend more than 10% of your income on fuel. I got it as my husband is disabled and we have to have the heating on more than general joe public.

I'm a pensioner and with edf and have been for a few years now, and this is news to me, so as far as I know all pensioners don't get this discount.

This offer only means EDF are charging what they should be to everyone and not just a small group. Voted cold as fuel prices are way way way too high.
