My NC10 was rubbish and cost more.

Not a bad price for a decent enough netbook only 3 cell though so lukewarm from me

Daughter's got the Samsung NC10, Son has this model Acer. The only tangible difference is that the Acer only has the 3 cell (my mistake poor research), wheareas the Sammy has a 6. Aprt from that, they operate almost identically, and frankly the kids have got to the stage where they'll just pick up whichever is closest.

I work in various schools as an ICT support technician, and have come across many laptops, and amongst the worst are Dell's and Acers.
Sony, HP, Toshiba, Asus, Lenovo, and Samsung on the other hand are much better.
The issues are mainly H/D failure, current battery life, the complete life of the battery, internal components failure, etc.
I don't want to start a big debate. Just trust me on this one. Go for Asus or Samsung at similar prices. That 3-cell battery is absolutely useless, so that should be enough to put you off it.

It definitely is in comparison with the 8-cell battery and now 12-cell is coming.
You need to move with the times. People want more battery life, like 6/8 hours.
Sorry, didnt mean to offend you. It was a 'ridiculous true statement'

So you're now saying that a 3 cell is not as good as an 8 or even 12 cell?
Genius! No wonder you're a big noise in the IT world.
So where are these 6/8 hour netbooks that are cheaper than the one in this thread? (that's how it works you see).

I have an Acer TravelMate which is nearly six years old now and I have never had a problem with the H/D or battery life which is about four hours, it is used Seven days a week for long periods at a time and has never let me down. So please stop bashing Acer as it becomes boring with the i'm alright jack attitude of some people who have another make and must be getting a backhander from manufacturers to sit and praise every other make apart from ACER. Because I think Acer are good I have added some heat!!
