Wanted Replacement 2.5gb Laptop Drive

POSTED BY: WackoJackoUK 3 months, 3 weeks ago

Hi guys

Missus old laptop (Toshiba Portege M100) had a nice loud clunking noise last night and sounded like the hdd died. It's not rebooting past the Toshiba logo stage now so methinks it's time for a new drive.

Where is the best place to get a smallish internal 2.5 hdd from? - Only had a 60gb in there so not looking for something too big as it's an old laptop and we don't want to spend much.

Was also wondering if I could buy an external 2.5 hdd drive and take the drive out and insert it?

Nearly forgot to say it is an IDE hdd.

Thanks

WJUK

160GB Samsung drive for £41.36 delivered

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of choice these days, when it comes to 2.5" PATA/IDE drives.

Might be better to sell the machine and move to a Netbook for £200-£300 or a used Thinkpad X60 for ~ £200 (if she is a Trackpoint fan).
