Cancelling subscriptions is not always as easy as it sounds!

:
I understand I can write to cancel within my 3 issue for £1 period and pay no further money – no questions asked
Seems to me you just write to them - they even have a freepost address but I would personally send it recorded delivery as then there would be proof of delivery should any dispute arise later.

Once you've given them notice, you can just cancel your direct debit mandate directly with your bank and they won't be able to take any money from you.

What's more as this particular offer says
:
If you’re not completely satisfied, simply cancel within 2 weeks of receiving your 3rd issue and get a FULL REFUND – no questions asked.
you could always sue them in the County Court if really want to get the pound back and they fail to keep to their side of the agreement.

What problems have you experienced Predikuesi?

Exactly what would you say in cancellation letter though?

"Hi, my name is <insert name>, my address is <insert address> - I would like to cancel my subscription to PCPro magazine."?

If you have hsbc bank account, go to your online bank account, click subscriptions and direct debit bit, click the PC magazine one and click cancel. That's what ill be doing after I receive my 3rd issue.

I cancelled my subscription on Friday

I called up and asked for them to cancel the subscription. They told me that they had stopped further magazines being sent out to me and also I was told that I wasn't going to be charged anything as the money was due to be paid on the 15th March. I then went onto my Online Banking and stopped the direct debit

Very Pleased

That's the best way to do it, as you know right away everything is sorted

Not the recommended way as it doesn't cancel the contract which you earlier agreed to; it just puts you in breach of that contract.

I'm not saying the publishers will, but if you just cancel the DD, the publishers would have every right to continue to charge you and, if necessary, pursue legal action against you to enforce payment.

Much better to follow rayman's advice as robot1000 did and then you will have fullfilled your obligations to provide the necessary cancellation notice, so there is no danger of any comeback later
