bought this tv from currys for £712 2 weeks ago, absolutely brilliant, always have friends round and everyone thinks its great mostly 'damn wish i'd bought that one' proof is in the pudding, great value TV froma premium brand,

oh one failing, the sound aint that great due to the ultra clean design, but most people I guess would plug it through a surround set up anyway, for everyday it sounds fine, but movies and games it is lacking somewhat

Thats one thing i'm wondering about. I'd be pushing the boat out to buy it, even at this price. Then i'd have to fork out for a sound system. Anyone got any idea's of a good cheap sound system to go with this tv?

asda do a 2.1 with subwoofer for £15 good enough till you can buy a good one

I was looking at this deal but maybe its just me, i don't like dealing with empire.

I cleared off my empire account and won't be touching them again.

3 year warrenty is great though, it did tempt me.

Great find - voted hot..

One word of caution...As mentioned by other members, if you are not planning to hook up some sort of surround sound, id definatley pop down to your local retailers to check it out..
I had the same set but returned it to costco because the sound was so low..For normal viewing i had it turned up approx 80% (i don't have surround sound)..I think they compromised the sound/speakers for stylish looks/quality..
Otherwise an excellent choice with an excellent picture!

BTW they are £740 in costco with a 3 year warranty (which is the best in the business)

we don't have any costco stores in northern ireland i don't think. Do they deal online?

The R74BDX, or R73BDX which is exclusive to Currys/Dixons online is well worth the cash for picture quality for 32 - 40 inch. It is only 720p/1080i though.

Would like a few other posts recommend a home cinema system (£50 +) with audio leads for TV, and optical cable for gaming (+ £10). The Samsung HTQX100 will blow your house down, or you flat neighbours out, and suits the set very nicely.

Try Tribal UK, they usually do price match for online deals and are normally cheap anyway.
