My mothers Uncle was on the Titanic as a crew member (he was a french polisher) and so won't be listed .. but incredibly interesting and thought provocing at the same time.

well if this is upto date and accurate i'll eat my hat!
searched the website for some of my family.... 6 generations and we dont exist so i doubt the titanic names are correct..
would someone else please try this in case im getting something wrong (which i doubt)

Thanks for that; searched for my surname which is quite unusual and found one matching record on board the Titanic. The initial for the first name was the name of the man we believed to have been on board so it was good to get some sort of confirmation.

had a quick look, it nearly sent me into a coma.

This is fab I will pass this on to my mum who is researching our family tree. Someone along the family line was something quite important on the Titanic but I've no idea what .. good job its not me doing the research!! Hehe

Have voted this hot as it's going to eat up your credits on findmypast.com once it goes on to pay per view, especially if you want to see the image and not just the transcript.
The list is not in alphabetical order so you can't guess what page your ancestor's surname might be on. There are different pages for each class of British passenger and the same again for Alien passengers.
While the freebie offer is on, there is no search box which is a little sneaky of them! You can usually search on surname, forename, travelling companions, port of departure etc. etc.
The Southampton list is 27 pages long and the Queenstown one 7 pages (the last pages in each case are only a numerical summary).
My advice is get it all downloaded now while you can. Don't dismiss the 2nd list from Queenstown as British passengers left from there as well as Southhampton.
It was abysmally slow on Saturday about 6pm but it was much better this morning around 12.30pm.
I didn't see a list for employees of the ship on findmypast but there is one on www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/ and as far as I can see, that site is free and has fascinating notes attached to the names. For an example click on the servants of passengers list and click on the first one.
