XBox games £3.99 instore

£3.99

100°

FOUND BY: sburley 2 years, 7 months ago

Was down my local TJ Hughes store this afternoon and they had an XBox promotional stand stuffed full of games all for £3.99!
Masses of titles, can't remember them all but included:

Mechanoid warrior something
Tiger Woods Golf
2 x football games
Tom Clancy something
Snowstorm
Razes Hell
Scaler
Psychonuats
2 x other first person shooters
NBA something
many others..

By the look of the stand this is a proper promotion, so probably nationwide.

Checked with a mate and can confirm/ add a few more:

NBA Live 2002
David Beckham Soccer
Mike Tyson Boxing
LMA Manager 2003
Enter the Matrix
Matrix Path of Neo
XIII
NBA Inside Drive 2003
True Crime Streets of LA
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2
Robotech Invasion

Plus more...

If anybody can recommend anything worthy from the above list/s I'd appreciate it as a few of these will do for presents for mates, but they may all be poop?!

Psychonauts is supposed to be excellent if you like games that are a little quirky. True Crime is quite fun, sort of like Chase HQ meets GTA (although not as good as either), and you can't go wrong with Tiger Woods if you like a golf game. Not sure about the rest, although XII looks great to me, and I think the Ghost Recon games are supposed to be pretty good too. Hope that helps =)

Cheers Newton.Gun, at these prices I'm tempted to invest in a refurb Xbox from Game and stock up myself - I notice Argos still have some stocks of the Forza/Project Gotham/Halo 2/Fable bundle for £9.99.
Can't go wrong with that.

Quick reviews (just my opinions, the value of my opinion may go up as well as down etc)

NBA Live 2002 - Not bad, but Inside Drive is the better game.

David Beckham Soccer - This game is still on the bench (surprise, surprise). Avoid.

***Mike Tyson Boxing - By law, the shop should pay YOU to take it off their hands. Avoid like the plague.

LMA Manager 2003 - Better getting Champ Manager 03/04

Enter the Matrix - Not bad for a 'game of the film', but really for fans only.

Matrix Path of Neo - Same as above, but at least you get to play as Neo (worth buying just to see 'the real matrix trilogy ending')

***XIII - Excellent FPS (also one of the first good uses of Cel Shading)

NBA Inside Drive 2003 - not a big basketball fan, but still quite liked this over anything EA's ever made.

***True Crime Streets of LA - Not bad GTA clone, but looks poor in comparison.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 - It's golf. A marmite game.

***Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 - One of the most played games on Live.

Robotech Invasion - Not bad Halo clone.

Snowstorm - Never heard of it.

***Razes Hell - Loads of cute little creatures (that look a little like The Prince from the Katamari series), just
ready for you to kill. If fancy a game where the premise is that you have to wipe anyone and anything cute from your planet, this will be up your street.

Scaler - Spyro with a lizard instead of a dragon. Any kid over the age of say 7 will get bored instantly.

***Psychonauts - Excellent game by the creator of Grim Fandango and Day Of The Tentacle. Good for the kids but some of the humour may go over their heads (its too good for kids). Other than the comedy though, it's really just a platform game with very neat twists.

*** - Denotes Xbox 360 backward-compatibility

bit of a mixed bag then, but some of them sound like they're worth a punt for 4 quid. Cheers.

And just to tie any loose ends up, heres reviews for the 4 games for £10 pack at Argos:

***Forza Motorsport - Microsoft's Gran Turismo, and oh so nearly as good as Sony's game. For the petrolheads only though, this is designed to be realistic.

Project Gotham 2 - Probably the only chance you'll get to bomb it down Edinburgh High Street at 150mph. If you prefer your racing to be fun, PGR2 is the safer bet.

***Fable: The Lost Chapters - made by Lionhead Studios (Black & White), Peter Molyneux OBE presents 'the greatest game ever'. Well, it's not, but Pete loves to overhype his games more than anyone else. It's still a cracking premise (play as a young adventurer throughout his life, the paths you take affecting your future and whether you turn out good or evil). Note you get the 'The Lost Chapters' edition, which ties a few loose ends up and (obviously) adds more chapters of gameplay.

***Halo 2 - The Daddy. I don't need to explain this game do I
But I will say that the game is still the most played Xbox game over Xbox Live (360 games excluded), and it'll no doubt be even more popular next week when the developers Bungie release 2 new maps for $4. Get your Xbox (or 360) onto Xbox Live and download the 3 FREE multiplayer level packs

No probs, anything to help fellow Xbox fans

*** - Also a note about Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility:
Although Microsoft state these games work on the Xbox 360, your mileage may vary if you connect the 360 via VGA. Some of these games, e.g. Psychonauts can only be played over Component or SCART connections, attempting to play it over VGA just displays an error due to 'display refresh rates'. Halo 2 i can vouch works perfectly over VGA (Bungie even made the back-compat code tweak the graphics slightly too, so it looks ace on a 360 in HD), BUT Halo 2's Xbox Live update/content download service are NOT VGA compatible. Loads of cable swapping ahoy for me - You have been warned, but at these prices who cares

Lazygamer, as you said anything to help fellow Xbox fans, I wonder if you could help me by knowing the answer to my question, (I've searched everywhere by the way & can not find an answer) It's a very simple question,

I have an Xbox & have ordered a 360, I would like to keep both accounts on live, so, will I be able to play against my own family on live in seperate rooms, one on original Xbox & 1 on the 360, obviously playing the same version game?

Hope you know the answer my friend, cheers,
Dave.

You can only use the xbox live account logged in on one machine at a time. If your logged in on the 360 you won't be able to login to live on the xbox and vice-versa.

And just for reference, if a live account is created on the xbox it can be transfered onto the xbox360 and still be used on the xbox as well.

BUT

If it was created on the xbox360 you can't transfer it and also use it on the xbox.

Cheers
