If you can afford it - go with the MS one. It's got seamless integration into the dashboard for configuration, uses the USB for power (so you don't need yet another brick consuming power), and clips neatly onto the back of the 360 (or the HDDVD drive if you've got it). It's also 802.11a compatible if you can get a router to match.

Only the poor (or cheapskates) go for 3rd party options
No....many of us went wireless before Microsoft did....hence why we have bought 3rd party gaming adaptors, as these came out long before Microsoft's efforts! As for seamless integration....all I had to do for mine was enter the encryption key I have for my router...after that my Xbox and 360 automatically detected all the correct settings for my D-Link Router and Adaptor. Couldn't be simpler!

thats a tough thing to do....all I can tell you is about my own experiences of my D-Link setup, which is excellent. Never had a problem. Many peope will say the same about Netgear and Belkin as well. I would recommend you check out some independent review websites to get a non-biased opinion. http://www.thinkbroadband.com might have some reviews or links to reviews.

I have been looking at the official one, but would it not be better for me to get one of the following in case I want to start playing PC games via web/better surfing (I currently use a dongle but my computer to connect wirelessly to a trouter in a housemates bedroom)

You could always just buy a seperate adapter for the PC. Can pick up a good USB one for £10-15.

My thread on DealExtreme was closed because they aren't UK based, yet their prices are often better than Play-Asia

Play-asia are usually reliable. The only thing you have to be wary of is that if the value exceeds £18 you may be charged import taxes.
