HP Colour Laserjet 1600 only £149.99 from PC World or Comet

£149.99

35°

FOUND BY: stephenashforth 2 years, 5 months ago

This is a cracking laserjet at a cracking price. I bought one a couple of weeks ago from HP at a little more than this so am a bit sick now.

I can't vouch for all branches of PC World but there is good availability in the Edinburgh area.

Please note this is Collect in Store only.

As it happens Comet are doing the same price so it may be that HP have a new model coming.

Truly great price for a great printer. The not so good:
the cartridges supplied with the printer are more than half empty, and it will cost more than the cost of a replacement printer to buy a new set.
From a previous similar deal:

Flipd:

projected life of cartridges supplied with printer = 1000 sheets
projected life of new replacement HP cartridge = 2500 sheets
i.e. the cartridges supplied with the printer are 40% full (or 60% empty!).
Cost of new set of genuine HP carts = £180+.
Cost to refill the set of HP carts supplied with printer = £70 (assuming the "get-you-started" carts can be refilled).

Even allowing for printer food costs, this still seems a good deal for a quality printer.

Hands up those who have had a bad experience with HP in the past?

I know I have.

Never a problem with HP laserjets - they go on forever. Same with quality inkjets.

Cheers, Dio

You want bad experiences with laser printers you wanna try Epson, awful, truly awful. Constant jamming, their engineers fix it and a day later jams again. HP on the other hand just work. Any printers we buy now will be HP> A bargain this one.

Have an old HPlaserjet 1100, printed 45,000 copies to date, not a single problem (touch wood) buy toner cartridges from ebay for £15, each cartrdge last for 4000/5000 prints.

We have about 15 of the HP 4000 series in work here, each one has well over 200,000 on the clock and bar some minor repairs have worked perfectly. There are certain parts which need replacing after x00,000 (reminds me of Trigger and the brush) but overall fantastic printers.

i think the people slagging off hp have only experiences their awful deskjet range.

the laserjet is excellent, i had a LJ5L that went on for years, and LJ4's can still be seen dotted around offices.

that said, i have a very low opinion of colour lasers, mainly from experience of xerox/m-tally though.
