A bit of talk about this lens and special offers on ebay.

jessops price is £530 with 100 cashback = £430

a few people have talked about Kerso on ebay for £325 shipped from america and then uk invoiced for £100 cashback = £225

this is a deal from a uk shop for £365 from the uk with £100 cashback = 265. Almost half of jessops price.

I have a Bristol Cameras near me (funnily enough) and can confirm they are a good company to deal with. Bought lenses and filters, etc. from them in the past. Voted hot.

I think the Minolta lenses will work with the Sony Digital SLR's as they took over Konica Minolta photo area. Might be an idea to check with dealer first though. You may also find that your old lens will have a different field of view when mounted on a digital slr, usually x1.5.

So that means a 50mm lens becomes equivelent to a 75mm lens

I have a Sony A100 and can confirm that old AF Minalta lenses work. However, they may not give full flash compatibility as newer lenses have more contacts on them.

Older manual focus Minalta lenses will not work as they have a differant lens mount.

This looks like a good deal with the £100 off. I got the bargain Canon 400D from Tesco Direct. Would the 17-85 lens be a good alternative to the standard kit lens? I've just ordered a Canon 60mm Macro USM lens which should produce some stunning macro close-ups, but I also like taking landscapes and would like a lens with a bit of zoom, but don't want something that's too heavy to use without a tripod. Any thoughts?

I'd added it to my basket earlier and it was still in there at £365, so I proceeded with the order and it went through at the old price. Fingers crossed!

It's also showing as having £100 cashback on the Canon site, so I shouldn't imagine there'll be any probs claiming that. Hopefully...
