£10 (£6 after tax) is nice, but unfortunately the staff in LloydsTSB seem to be about as intelligent as a strimmer. You'd be better off opening an ISA as it pays interest tax-free.

Yeah, it's a great rate isn't it? NOT!

1% for tying my money up for a couple of weeks and all the paperwork that'll be involved. If this takes you more than 30 minutes it's totally not worth it. You'd be better off sticking around at work and doing 30 minutes overtime.

You get the £10 bonus without having to pay any tax on it. But still, open an Alliance & Leicester account and put just £500 in and receive £60 back. Much better in my opinion.

SORRY!!! - Take tax off that! Should've read better, deal is much worse than it already was now.

That 5.25 figure includes the £10 bonus though doesn't it? So it's only paying 4.25%. So all in all you make about £3 from this after you factor in tax and the fact that you're not earning interest for the time it takes to transfer the money in and then out again and even when you're earning interest it's at a lower rate that you could get in an ISA and you're having to pay tax on it.

So £3 for all that effort of moving money about is a bit of a joke if you ask me, and who said they could do it all in one minute? That's impossible, you've signed up to the account, transferred the money in, and transferred the money out and logged into internet banking each time to do those things and you've completed the whole offer in under one minute, well done that man!

Not to mention when they don't pay up you've either got to go to the branch and complain or phone up paying money out on your phone bill, either way it's going to cost you more than the £3 you would have made, in making phone calls and time going to the branch. You'd end up making a loss on the deal!
