I phoned them and got an ansaphone. Never heard of them, I have dealt with Laptop Direct and they are excellent and they answer the phone. Plus with quidco on Laptops Direct you get your delivery back in the form of the 2%.

Eventually got an answer from them and they comfirmed FREE postage at the moment and in stock.

Only dealt with them from yesterday as buying myself. Was very impressed. Obviously a small company but picked up first time and offered free delivery on the Samsung R20 T5500 which was under the £500 mark (£489).

Receiving tomorrow so will let you know the result.

How about Tesco Direct http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-5188.aspx £669.96 with 3% quidco (about £20) and 669 clubcard points. There is a free delivery code kicking around and maybe a £5 of code as well.

please do, it's only a few pounds difference so some might think spending nearly £700 on a laptop might be a better deal through a larger, well known company. Although for next day its a great price.

I'm sorely tempted to buy this but Dell and Empire Direct have a hold on a large chunk of my cash on my credit card (from the cancelled/out of stock orders) for the next few days.

Know how you feel - I lost out on the Sony Vaio as well and Empire still deducted the money!!!

Will post result as it is nice to see a small company competing with some of the big boys and I could not find a better price for the model I wanted - Samsung R20 LMW T5500. Must be fate as I do think the Samsung looks far sexier (IMO).

This is the new Samsung laptop with the newest Intel mobile CPU "Santa Rosa" and the new Direct X 10 Nvidia graphics card. The older CPU models (including Intel Core 2 Duo) will become much cheaper in the next few weeks, since the retailers are trying to get rid of them.
On eBuyer this item has been sold out since a week now; they sold 120+ laptops in just a few days.

You could have removed the battery before using it... I'm sure a laptop battery does not have a memory these days anyway, still best not to bother it on its initial charge anyway.

I know what you mean - it's one of those "it will probably be okay BUT" things. There is a button you can press on the battery that gave a reading of 80% but not taking any chances. The battery on my last laptop was terrible - in the end it only lasted about 15mins so not risking it. Biting my finger nails though!!

P.S. How long do you reckon for an initial charge? I think about 8 hours should do it?

I think you can use it while it is charging, it should just carry on but at a lesser rate, I understand your concerns though. 8 hours sounds fine,
