They'd run out when I got my shopping delivered on Tuesday so I got a small one as a replacement which cost twice as much! :(

i know this is seems a good deal, half price !! woop woop but what abot allthe suppliers tesco screw over as they will deamnd that they get the chickens at ahlf price and that will ost certainly be under the price of production for the farmers.

sorry for the rant but i felt it had to be said.

I wonder how they can raise a chicken, kill it, pack it + pay for transport + a bit of profit for poor little tesco for £1.65.
Well, actually, I know how and I wouldn't want to eat it.

I'm no animal actavist vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination, but I think people should avoid cheap meat for reasons like this:

Exactly!

I'd rather know an animal has had some form of life, Roaming around free etc

We buy free range (although some of the labels can be a con as the chickens still get fed crap food.)

they can run loss leading promotions like these on really popular stuff (everyone likes chicken except veggies !) and it brings loads more people into the shop. there's never much profit in chickens anyway, its all about flogging more volumes of stuff isnt it ! id be happy to eat it, its just a chicken

It;s your choice. They still get slaughtered though ---
btw, in the US, chicken breast fillet - with no skin and sliced nicley can be bought as low as £ 1per pounds.

So.. there is still a room for these british farmers to be more productive and cut the price of chicken !

And a kilo is... Oh, 2lb and a bit. Therefore the breasts probably cost about 50p of that 97p. But I agree, farmers could be more productive. Build bigger sheds and force feed the ******s more to produce bigger chickens.
