Prudential Health Insurance - Free Gym Membership and £115 Quidco!!

91°

FOUND BY: Ian182 2 years, 4 months ago

A variation of this was posted a while ago, but this has now change. Bear with me, this is a long one!

If you take out a health insurance policy with Prudential, you can obtain gym membership for free, depending on how often you go. Quotes for health insurance start from less than £25 per month.

How does the gym membership work?

You choose you gym from a participating network including LA Fitness, Cannons and Virgin. A £25 activation fee is charged. Now monthly gym membership is calculated on how often you visit the gym. THere are 3 rates...Regular (twice a week or more) Occasional (once a week) Infrequent (less than once a week). Prices are £0 a month for regular, £25 for occasional and £38 for infrequent (with a £5 supplement on each for Virgin gym users).

For the first 3 months, everyone is charged the occasional rate, but after this period, your rate is calculated based on your average weekly number of visits in the previous 3 months. Therefore, if you continue to go twice a week you will pay nothing for your gym membership.

The added bonus is that if you go through Quidco, you will receive £115 which will more than cover your £25 activation fee and your first 3 months of occasional usage gym fees.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me! But remember you do have to pay your health insurance premium on top but I think this is something worth having!

I've read your post, and I'm not sure how it's different to the last one:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=261747

You have to pay for the first 3 months with this one?

Because after the three months, if you continue to go twice a week, your gym membership is always free (unless you go to Virgin where it is just £5) not just free for 6 months as the previous offer.

That's what I thought, but wasn't certain. Thanks for clarifying

This has been discussed over at mse in grave detail.

You pay an initial £25 connection fee

You then pay £25 on top of your health insurance cost for the first 3 months (where they evaluate your use of the gym)

if you go atleast twice a week on average then you no longer need to pay the £25 additional fee. If you continue this throughout the yr then you will have amounted enough vitality points to not pay any health insurance the following yr.

(Your link goes to prudential car insurance, think the pru health link is the one you need http://www.pruhealth.co.uk )

Also Quidco gives £115 but Topcashback gives £155 for pruhealth at the moment

The link I put on was http://www.whypayforthegym.com but this seems to be re-directing to Prudential car insurance. Can any mods help with this?

Hadn't heard of Topcashback before but having looked at their site it looks a good alternative to Quidco - wish I'd have known about it 2 weeks ago as I've missed out on 9% of my travel insurance with Direct Travel Insurance which Quidco doesn't do!

I have Pru through work. It's allowed me to join the Virgin Active gym local to me for £25pm, even if I never show. Normal price £50pm (my wife is paying this!). You can also get some smashing deals with Champneys from Pru - more than 50% off some stays

Hi, Im interested in joining a gym very soon and this offer seems to be very good. However, Im still confused on a few aspects.

Firstly, if I pay a £25 activation fee, then pay £25.80 a month (which is the essential plan) for 3 months, that would be roughly £100 spent in the 3 month period. After this 3 month period, so long as I check in atleast twice a week, will my gym membership be totally free? or will I still have to pay £25.80 a month?

I mean, it seems to good to be true if I just spend £100, and then it will be free for the rest of the time!

Can someone please tell me if this is correct or not!

Regards.
