western digital hdds are much quieter, they dont produce the grinding sound that seagates seem to make. i have a seagate in 1 machine and a wd in another and the wd is much quieter. if you are going to use this for a silent media pc go with a wd its much quieter.

good price but scan have the 500GB version for less than £60 on today only and the 750GB for £108, plus some people get free delivary at scan aswell

Personally I really rate the new Samsung Spinpoint drives, mine is so quiet I cant hear it at all!
