Great price for an excellent drive.

Use this link to get free delivery and use Google Checkout to get £5 off.

Use Quidco and get a further £1.64 off, making the total £53.11 !

Update: It appears that Quidco won't work with Google Checkout. No harm in trying though ;)

The web site says they are out of stock, but due in 1 or 2 days.

Maybe after your update they had a run on them !

Quidco won't track when you pay using Google Checkout!
Still a good price though, as long as the free delivery trick still works!

That seems a good price. Don't forget to buy two - RAID 1.

Always makes me smile how much you get for so little with storage. I was reading a 2005 issue of PC Week yesterday and it was front page new that drives may hit 500Gb this year. Bet they didn't anticipate them being £55 two years later!
Can still remember when it was £1 per Mb, now it's 10Gb per £1..!

Great drive this! I just got one from ebuyer to put in a HTPC im building and it is VERY quiet.

I build a lot of quiet PC's and previously western digi drives were the quietest.

This samsung drive beats them by miles. No real seek noise when it boots up windows at all and it stays cool.

Even with my ear put to it, it was hard to tell it was running!

I bought the 250g version from dabs and it was so noisey i sent it back.It would never stop clicking!
Even messing about with the AAM never helped

Great, replace the 250gb in my HTPC and use the 250gb as a secondary drive in my other PC

Hi all, my first post. If i wanted to use this as external drive what would be the best option? I know i would have to buy an enclosure.

thanks

If you use it in an external drive case you will have to get a SATA compatable type and not an IDE only version. Some external cases support both SATA and IDE drives. This Startech case at Dabs is suitable and can be connected by a USB cable.

Dont bother, its actually cheaper nowadays to just buy a complete external HDD than it is to make one yourself.

look on ebuyer and other similar sites, i recommend the Freecom 500GB aluminium model for ~£70 delivered. The WD MyBooks have been proven quite unreliable but the Freecom ones use samsung drives and 2yr warranty. Can;t go wrong really
