OK guys this is a long story but here goes! i sold i ipod nano about 2 weeks ago but sent it off 1st class standard parcel. The buyer claimed not to have recieved it and opened a paypal claim. i gave it a couple of days and then decided to refund the buyer by sending her the £70 cash via royal mail special delivery (ZV589836263GB) as i only had 50p in my paypal account. we agreed that once she recieved payment she would close account but she neva and now paypal has granted her the claim, giving her 50p and possibly my quidco money that is comming in a few days?

so her could possibly have ALL the following

1)The ipod
2)The £70 refund
3) 50p from paypal
4) my quidco money in a few days!

any advise?

P.S. i refunded her in good faith because it was my fault i did not use special delivery to send the ipod!

man sorry to hear bout that,
you should't of sent her money you should of waited to see what paypal said,
i have waited 1month for a parcel and finally received it today,

she recieved it yesterday, we agreed the day before. but havent spoekn since!. i have sent her another message 30 mins ago, asking why she hasent closed the claim

Ok, so she may not have received the ipod (some people are still honest you know) so she now has the refund and maybe has forgotten (yes unlikely, but maybe she has) maybe she thinks she has done it and done it wrong, or maybe any other reasons possible but if i saw this thread i would certainly make you wait that bit longer, not sure there was any need for this thread yet

Might be a case of them not logging on to the internet just yet...

Not everyone lives on the internet all day.

I'd wait and see what reply you get before starting something along these lines, otherwise they may just decide to keep the dispute open for tarnishing their name.

The title of this thread would SERIOUSLY pee me off if I was the person you are talking about.

You have NIL proof of anything of the sort.

He's just panicking a bit.

It's partly your own fault for sending such a valuable item out on standard delivery though.

So she could have the ipod and a refund because you sent by the wrong method?

This is assuming she is commiting fraud by saying she never received it so I'd be careful what you accuse her of. You made at least the following mistakes:

Should have refunded through paypal
Should have sent special delivery

I don't get what this is about her getting your quidco money???

she will get the quidco money as most likely its paid into his paypal account and paypal will send her the money as the account is limited.

What can i do?

A few lessons to be learnt then...

If your going to send something so valuable through the post..make sure its insured up to the hilt, and or make the buyer aware and include it in the cost of the item. Then if they give you the old " its got lost " story, you can speak to the nice people at the royal mail and you should be insured against loss.

Dont bow down to the " its gone missing story" and get paniced into sending refund etc .. do the above option first.

and lastly dont come on here having a go at the buyer even BEFORE you have been had, as you dont know the full facts of why or what, patience and follow the terms and conditions as set down by the mods, or at worst get Uncle Steve( Dino ) to hold your hand before you sell anything...

Exactly...........every single item I've ever sold and posted (on eBay for example) goes by a track-and-traceable method.......and I've sold stuff that's gone for 1p in the past.

No sympathy at all, there are so many sharks out there...............

This is hardly an appropriate title... in fact I think it is a bit misleading. Therefore I shall edit it.
