  With my family we simpy go with Grandad (insert name) or Nanny (insert name),
  
  The easiest way to deal with this is let the children decide on their own.
  
  Just explain who they are they will do the rest..

  my daughter calls my mother-in-laws on-off boyfriend grandad I dont like it, I tell her to call him by his first name because hes not her grandad. My dad died while my wife was pregnant, so my daughter doesnt know him she just knows hes "in the sky" so I say she only has 1 grandad

  the innocence of child hood :) Think I'll give her all the options I prefer the reincarnation belief. It's better than teaching that hell exists.

  its not a matter of heaven or hell I have no beliefs myself, its explaining to a 3 year old where her grandad is.

  Mine decided themselves what to call grandparents.
  one set was called after their dog
  one set were having their kitchen replaced so became n&g kitchen lol

  A bit similar here to chasmi49, one set of of grandparents were called n&g with the van lol. My dad was a builder.

  .When i tell my 12 year old we are going to Nana's house "his reply" is what the ice cream lady,"he only knows her by having ice cream @ my mom's house.

  My dads parents are Mother and Father.
  
  My Mums parents are Nan and Grandad.
