Perhaps they should make an amazon marketplace/play trade/etc section. That way they wouldn't flood the main deals section. By placing a blanket ban on them people are missing out on a load of excellent deals like this one.

this site isnt about self promotion, and if you include amazon marketplace, ebay, playtrade, then thats exactly what would happen
#12
But if you only allow them in a particular section that wouldn't be a problem. People would only look at them if they chose to and they wouldn't miss out on such an awesome deal.

What make of drive was it and have they sold out?

Clearly I am. Please explain. I don't want to miss out on brilliant deals just because they happen to be on amazon marketplace not some other random website. It really doesn't bother me if the person who posts it on this website happens to be the one selling it. There are loads of ads on here all the time of people self-promoting their own stuff to sell or trade and they offer good deals. Provided I get the best deal I don't care who the seller is or what site they sell it through.
#16
If every seller thought their deal was "brilliant" we would be inundated with page after page after page of deals that we couldn't keep up with, and for the most part, were carp.

HotUKDeals.com was founded in August 2004 as a place for consumers to freely share deal tips, voucher codes and other consumer information. The purpose of the site is to escape from the marketing messages and ads that surround us and get genuine advice from other people about hot deals.
No self-promotion or marketing
Any type of self-promotion or recommendation where the person profits is severely frowned upon. The basis of the site is that it is for honest tips from other people who don't stand to gain. Merchants who are found self-promoting are banned from the site.

The other problem (apart from what Sassie has already said) is that with Amazon Marketplace sellers, they may only have one item for sale. On top of that, you get not guarantee, customer service, etc.

Well I Ummd and Ahhhd over it and then just hit the checkout button. Only one left if anybody wants it

but unfortunately your not admin, and he has chosen to have this site with zero tolerance to spam and self promotion

This wasn't self promo though, just an AM deal. A good one at that by the looks of it ;-)

Just had my hard drive delivered and was a bit concerned at first as nowhere on the box does it mention anything about 500gb. But plugged it in, instantly recognised.
A nice extra I'm very happy about is the card reader. I got a 4GB SD HC card a while ago which my card reader just didn't recognise. I fully expected the card reader in the HD to not recognise it either, but it works fantastically :)

I considered this but was unsure as to whether it was a case or a case with drive. In the end I went for a vanilla version on the basis that I don't need yet another card reader and Amazon can sort it out if it goes tits up

Sweet. Mine turned up today. First PC failed to recognise it (but it's got an ebay USB2 card so what you expect?), tried it on the laptop and it fired straight up. Pretty nice looking beasty and a pretty decent drive installed inside (Seagate ST3500630A). Can't moan for £35 :w00t:
