What DVDs are they?

I'd contact seller and explain that you have spoken to the distributer who has confirmed they are'nt genuine and ask for a full refund. Police would only get involved if the copyright owner wanted to press charges, and being they are a small company out of the USA I know for a fact they wont bother as it would cost too much. Don't leave a neg until he lets you know whether he will refund or not, if you leave him neg first he'll probably be less inclined to refund.
Hope that helps.

It would have been better to download and burn the films yourself!

It once took me about 2 and half hours searching on ebay to find a box set of the first series of charmed, that wasnt a copy or DVD backup Grrr bloody dodgy gits, but of course Ebay dont care

I had the same think happen to me and i contacted the seller who said everyone sells them so they wouldnt do anything so i opened up a paypal dispute listing illegal copied dvds as the reason and got my money refunded almost instantly from the seller
and what about feedback feel bad for asking for a full refund then leaving him negative but surely other's need to be warned?

Maybe leave a neutral saying they were on DVD-R's ;-)

Yeah basically, all these 'Learn' dvds etc are mostly fake, they focus on these as they still get sales but do not attract much attention.

It's easy money for the seller but can be really annoying for the buyer as he has not stated or worded it that they are not original.

I would contact him and ask for a refund, if you neg him he will ask you to return them, atleast this way you will probably get a refund and keep the discs :)

THEN NEG HIM ANYWAY MWUHAHAHA

Trading Standards and FACT will get involved though, the police rarely deal with anything like this.

OP, email the seller requesting a refund along with return postage. If he tries to be funny saying return them before you get a refund just mail him back and say no, but you will take them to trading standards if he prefers.

Thats not entirely true, trading standards and FACT will only be interested if its from a big studio OR something which is illegal in the UK.
Heres something you may not know, a lot of the "budget" DVD companies in the UK actually release titles copied from US releases without obtaining copyright first, either when the copyright owners have ceased trading or just faded into obscurity or are just small fish who could'nt challenge if they wanted to.
I remember back in the VHS days, A MAJOR UK wholesaler actually rereleased all the obscure Video Gems titles such as Little Matchgirl and Go-Kids after VG went out of business, made a fortune and FACT and ts did'nt bat an eyelid lol. And said rereleases are still on amazon and ebay to this day fetching good money.

Basically, you do not have to send them back..

As far as i am aware, it is illegal to send counterfeit goods through the postal service, so you LEGALLY can not send it back :whistling::-D

I think thats right, isnt it people?

Says on Show Me How Videos website something about being able to download them, worth knowing in case you ever want more in the series as they seem to accept paypal.

1) Paypal WILL refund you if the item is fake...so put a claim in
2) Leave a big fat negative...the seller cannot leave a buyer a negative anymore :)

yeah, I just sent this dispute. If he asks me to send them back I've handed them in to the police who said they would destroy them. Of course I'll copy them onto my hard drive then recycle them.

Due to the suspect nature of the discs quality, the blue DVD-R style disc and sticky label on the surface I contacted the publisher www.showmehowvideos.com with regards to the authenticity of this product. They have got back to me and confirmed they are fakes email follows. I therefore request a full refund.

"Yes they are
Thank you
Could you please notify Ebay as we will

Hi recently purchased Sea Kayak 1 and 2 off ebay

They are in region 2 and don't appear to be original as the disc face is
blue (like DVD-Rs) and the picture on the disc is sticky. You don't appear
to sell these in region 2 are they fakes? thanks."

Paypal will refund your money and you wont have to return them being fakes. Then you should definately leave neg stating they are illegal copies, thats exactly what i did in your situation

neg him he cant do it back ^_^ neg him good

Without doubtm the best advice here.

trading standards, police etc wont want to know as everyone is at it on ebay and have been for years.

Just make sure you record all emails they sent, I think you should get some backing behind you by contacting the owner of the dvds again and asking them to contact eBay in reference to the seller selling their dvds as copies as well as referring to you.
#18
Its pretty easy to prove if the DVD is not even produced in Region 2 :)
Of course she doesnt have proof they are genuine. For a start, you cant prove anything about what you posted (unless you film yourself packing it, posting it etc).

Had a few paypal disputes in the past, they will always back the buyer and will give you all your money back, I'm absolutely certain on that.

Up to how long after a transaction can I file a dispute? got another guy sent me an ignition coil for my car but it's the wrong version, he listed my car on the item description. He seems to be fobbing me off with excuse after excuse been a month now.

Why not ask to return for a refund before jumping into a dispute?
#21
I think you have 30 or 45 days in which to file a dispute. Don't wait for the buyer though as they will try to stall. As long as the dispute remains open you should be ok. Do not close until you have won. If you have sent the email from the manufacturer supporting your case you should be ok. Also take pictures of the items especially the blue bottoms and send them to paypal as well. Hang tight it will take a few weeks but you will win and get a full refund. If you just send them back then the buyer wins and may not even refund you the return postage which you have to send recorded. Just keep checking the dispute status and pushing them.
