I don't have a problem with the guy either. Seems a like a nice person.

Agreed.
He's a good guy with good interests at heart.

Well thanks for saying so, and tbh I'm a bit surprised. I had you down from previous comms - admittedly some time back - as someone who just disliked me regardless. It's good to know I was wrong about that, and that you are as flexible and thoughtful as I suspected. I don't mind people disliking some of my stances or just "not getting on with me" - that's to be expected, and even encouraged - as long as they are fair about it, and don't turn contradictory opinions into personal attacks. Respect back at you, and hope NYC is being good to you.

EDIT: I will stay out of this thread now, as I want the people who hold different views (i.e. who don't like me or wish to make more critical comments) to know that I won't be trying to defend myself. Last words from me on this thread.

Look above your post

People seem too quick to get offended. They can't seem to understand when someone is purely just voicing what they think for some feedback. As far as I could see liddle's intentions never were to offend or get on the wrong side of people. The guy was just saying what he thought and was interested in what other members views were... Nothing wrong with that at all.

Yep, its a website with a message forum. Everyone is going to have different opinons - just like in the 'real world' just becuase you don't agree with them doesnt mean you need to be offended.
I actually really enjoy talking to people with well founded different opinons on subjects I'm passionate about, creates great healthy debate!

Oh and Liddle Ol'Me's opinons seem well founded to me, its a shame more people on this site can't write a constructive post instead of attacking each other all the time - its seemingly getting worse!

Yea perhaps. Never too sure with you black gerbil. Like you said, in some of your posts you may be genuine but then other times you're blatently (too me anyway) just having a laugh. But then that still doesn't give people a right to attack you... Although sometimes you do cross the line (you do need to try and cut that down imo).
Personally though I like your threads, I rarely post in them but reading them gives me a good laugh

NO whats pathetic is the comparison of courage it takes to post on a forum vs courage of soldiers, LOM is FAR from pathetic i like the bloke, just to clear that up

What I don't understand is why people feel the need to belittle someone's obviously well thought out opinion on a matter - he's got his opinion, and you've got your's. You disagree say your piece and leave it be. No need to take it hyper personally just because you think you have some kind of moral high ground. Liddle was obviously sharing a viewpoint which is shared by many people across this country, pacificsm, so it's not exactly a new concept. If you feel the need to argue over a point, fine, but do it in a respectful way - and stick to the main points.

Couldnt agree more with some of that , but hang on a min........if he wanted ONLY one way discussion and praise of his topic...then i imagine there are particular websites out there devoted to that way of thinking and he could of lived long and happy as a king there, as it was he posted it here where there was OBVIOUSLY strong support going on for the issue. cheers.

TBH - I didn't read the whole topic but from what I could see it degenerated into what was obviously personal attacks on the OP. I'm sure liddle wanted other viewpoints on his topic - that's why he posted it in the first place. This is a guy who seems to thrive on lively debate!

whats with the appreciation thread? did something happen, wouldnt of thought this would be encouraged tbh but must be ok as a mod has commented, but i find it wierd lol

Well, the OP is suspended, so can't say whether his true feelings are:
'I think I like'
or
'most of the time I dont get on with the guy'.

... but the respect is consistent.

Anyway, I like the discussions and appreciate Liddle's positions and efforts and some of the threads:whistling:

To be honest Ive got fed up of seeing the Help for Heroes bits everywhere I look, Ive nothing against our military boys (my cousins in the RAf) but this is way over the top, yes the government should be helping the boys more and them not having to rely on charity hand outs. But you join the forces knowing what you may have to face, dodging bullets, playing hop scotch in a minefield etc, not cream teas. What about the unsung heroes who face danger everyday in their jobs such as firemen? Paramedics,or even (as much as it pains me to say) police?

Has this set a precedent now? Is anyone free to promote any such charity as they see fit and plaster promotions all over the site for it? I can hardly view a thread without seeing some promotion for it in an avatar, and to be frank its bugging the hell outta me.

You mean skip the threads where you wont like my opinion on them:whistling: At the end of the day this is a forum and not all will agree on everything, but because I dont agree with it does that mean I am not allowed to express an opinion?

I think I like Liddle ol Me.....

I presume you have never met - which means you like him/her based on the opinon you have formed in your mind which in turn are based on his/her posts.

I try and keep an open mind about members on here - you can be anyone on an anonymous internet forum. I could be Gary Glitter.....

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Internet_dog.jpg

I do wish he/she was little less verbose with their posts - would make them easier to skim read.

I said I would stay out of this but I have reserve the right to respond to some posts where I think actual facts are being miscontrued. The post above (gari189) is one such case. I also agree with him that we must be careful about members who choose to remain completely anonymous. But this isn't the case with me. If you look at my feedback here you'll see that I've willingly shared my identity with anyone who requires it. I notice you have no such feedback, so I presume that your mistrust feeds directly from your own decision to remain completely anonymous. Btw, the only reason I responded to this is that I take exception to what I interpret as an attempt at a sly little dig with "I could be Gary Glitter.....". Given the context, this reads to me as a cowardly attempt to suggest that my liberal opinions might hide some more sinister rationale. I'm sorry if I have misinterpreted your intent with my 'verbose' response, but I can never disregard context in the way you seem willing to do.
