If you fancy something free and that is straight forward to use, get audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ it's as good as cool edit used to be before adobe took them over.

yep audacity is powerful and free lots of things you can do on it like if the mp3 is too quiet you can increase the volume of it and other cool stuff

audacity - i chop the piece of song i want, then , if necessary, fade in the first 1/2 second of the track from zero to full volume so it doesn't sound too harsh when it first starts.

Anonther vote for Audacity, it has been around for years, is nice and simple to use and does much more than just chop an mp3

Yup, if I need to do anything with a song I generally reach for audacity first.
