I'd go for the Touch HD

Was going for the diamond - but there were a few things I didnt like. The HD smashes the Diamond into touch!

out on the 17th on orange and o2 looks good too

Problem with O2 - they take so long to get the phones in! OK - it might be for the best (ie they say they are testing the phone to make sure its optimised) but I hate that wait!

mobiles.co.uk are doing it from the 17th £40 quidco free jabra handset 5 months half price line rental

Tempting...... But I get a 30% discount on all my O2 contracts - so that would work out dearer in the long run!

i thought that nokia by now would of had a touch screen phone on the market, for me now buttons are a thing of the past and wheres motorola gone? they where class leaders at 1 time i havent known them to put out a decent phone for years.

I am surprised Nokia haven't pushed more to get their touch phone out on the market given it's a desirable feature especially as they've struggled to do much with the N96. Having said that I'd rather they took their time rather than rush it out especially as they're competing against flaky WM devices where S60's stability and integration are strong assets.

Motorola never managed to keep up their run with the Razr with the Iphone then destroying much of their market.

Personally I prefer to have a qwerty keyboard which makes the X1 the choice for me although SE's recent track record isn't good even though I do appreciate this device is manufactured by HTC.

g1 is apparently limited... plus I hate the way it slides up.

xperia was my first choice but then I saw close up photos of the touch HD and I was blown away!

I am soooo happy I didnt go for the omnia!

As for nokia... I hate their software now... never seen such buggy phones!

I may wait for it to come out on 02... as the reception for orange in my office is pants!

guv I wish I had 30% discount... I may have to check my work benefits and discount page...

Pretty much agree 100%. I'm in the same boat re Orange. Does your campany have a big O2 contract? (Thats how I get my 30% - its quite possibly their biggest contract!) I get 5 per year of these as well - but just gave the last away to another member here! However, I may still be able to help you out with that! Drop me a PM.)

There is a site at work that has loads of employee discounts on it... I haven't looked at the mobile phone section or even if they have one... but I'll find out! I'll let you know how it goes n hopefully you might be able to "Hook me up!"

Yeh, no worries. We've got the same, though most are a bit naf. Car hire is another good one we get (£13 per day is good in anyones book!)

Original S60 devices were a mess...I had numerous different ones and always ended up with something else as they were rubbish frankly and I don't know how people used them. However with third edition S60 has really matured, I had an N93 first and now an E90 - both are rock solid and nothing like their predecessors, I've been genuinely impressed with how well they run. The PC Suite is also massively improved as I used to find it a frustrating experience that tended to get me nowhere. The N95 was messy to start off with as is the N96 although quite smartphones getting ever complex and so much pressure to launch, Nokia aren't on their own in this regard. I do like the E series, while not as flashy as their N siblings their hardware tends to be a bit more solid.

UIQ was superb, I had a P900 a while back when S60 was still a disaster and Windows Mobile devices were still hefty PDAs with phone sellotaped to the back. With no sign of a proper replacement I ended up with the HTC Wizard which was my first Windows Mobile device then I changed to its successor, Hermes I think it was. Hardware wasn't bad but Windows Mobile was irritating as it still felt like a phone and PDA stuck together rather than properly integrated. I decided I'd had enough at that point and haven't been back personally although I still support WM devices. Activesync seems to go downhill with every version release since 3.7.1 which is made worse by the fact you have to run AS 4.5 with WM 6 devices.

Mildly interested in the Blackbery Storm just because it's a non-WM touchscreen device although I'm not a Blackberry fan especially as competing devices can manage push mail pretty well without needing to pay for an extra service plan.

I was on the verge of buying a HTC Touch Pro, I have a TyTn II right now, which I do love, but I like the look of Touch Flo and all that. I've then seen the HD, which looks lovely, but I do use the keyboard of my TyTn II quite a bit, will I miss this much if I go to the HD?

Play have the HD for only £500 (only 0.5% from Quidco? :( ) Is it cheaper anywhere else?
