THIS co2 stuff is a load of rubbish anyway - cows emit more co2 than all the cars in the world - and volacanos emit more co2 than all of emissions doubled
#5
ok, lets kill all the cows and seal up all the volcanoes shall we? At least we can do something about the unnecessary car emissions!

[QUOTE=SunTzu]ok, lets kill all the cows and seal up all the volcanoes shall we? /QUOTE]

lol:)

People who run volcanos should be forced to put them off the road if they are as bad as that. : = )
#8
great information thanks

if you need a 4x4 you need one - you think rhe fat cats that own the big carsd will care about the car tax - its lower and middle class who suffer - hows paying more car tax going to reduce co2 emmisions
#10
Carley
You could ask for a rebate on the current duty, then retax for 12 months at the end of this month at the current rates.

actually sheeet i just realised mine is £90 per 6months - so thats £180 for the year - i only drive a 1.4 renault clio 2003 - where can i find the co2 emmisions for that?

EXACTLY!

People will still use thier car, still pay the higher ammount as they cannot live without thier car. The environment isn't going to benefit but the friggin government will!
#12
mine going up from £175 to £270 but I carry 7 people in mine....might as well buy & run 2 cars then to clog up the roads!
#13
that table above is wrong - they backed down on the massive increases and have delayed the retrospective re-banding of cars.....

On your reg doc (V5) 2 x 6 months is dearer than 1 x 12 mths

You've got a point there.... Kill the cows and sealing the vocanoes could be a way forward which has yet to be explored by polititians who are using "green issues" as revenue raisers...

Why not tax a cow owner or anyone that looks at a volcanoes.... Write to the One Eyed scottish idiot with your suggestion I'm sure he can use any crazy idea at present..... After all, all his bankers have let him down. (No pun intended!) :whistling:
#16
My co2 emmisions are 174g/km
so mines gone up £25
#18
If the above is correct and the link has my car right, then mine is going down to £90. Will check the reg doc later, but that sounds good. Thanks :)

"The tax band changes will be phased in. For next year, duty rates for all types of car will increase by a maximum of £5 and, from 2010, the maximum rise for the most polluting cars will be £30. Less polluting cars will see no increase or a cut of up to £30, Darling said."
#20
what age is your car Carly? Have a wee look below the table on the parkers link:

All cars registered between March 2001 and March 2006 that produce more than 225g/km CO2, will temporarily join Band K in 2009 and 2010.

Lucky escape for me as my car emits 226g/km!!
#21
actually, parkers have got a fool proof tax finder:

You all have too much money. Its only for card registered after March 2001, so doesn't affect the likes of us poor folk............buy an old v8 Range Rover that does 8mpg and you're well away!!
#24
that's what i was planning on doing if the tax increase had come in....well maybe not a rangie but a nice older car and since i'm doing low mileage the petrol costs wouldn't matter - or even better an LPG'ed one :-D

Fixed taxes such as VED are totally unfair and regressive - fuel duty is a much more effective way of making people drive less!

Only £5 now, thank god :-D

oh dear - another one taken in by the green 'tax em all' lies

notice how it is now called 'climate change' instead of 'global warming' since they discovered world temperatures have been FALLING since 2005!

i think the worst aspect of this retrospective increase (when it happens) is that many cars that are perfectly usable will be scrapped because they're too expensive to run - how can that be environemntally friendly?? I don't really have as much of a problem with big taxes on new cars as you can make an informed choice but to add these taxes retrospectively to older cars is crazy.
#32
If your tax is due to go up you can always send the old disc back for a refund and retax your car for 12 months from now:thumbsup:

What about me who has a VW campervan whch we use for our holidays half a dozen times a year?
I have an economical small car so do my bit, but I bet the sanctimonious a***holes on here bleating about me killing the planet fly on their holidays.

And also. the campervan is dual fuel (LPG) so just throws out water - but teh government don't take this into consideration.

Only cars after 2001 are affected. Your tax will be the same as last year, £185 iirc
