Just signed up (I think :?). What's with the 'write us a CV to join and a mod will maybe let you in' crap.

Which groups that on? Id have just rejected it and told you not to be a daft buggar! It does get me sometimes though all the wanteds and it seems some people take the pee but we do have to stick to the guidelines set by freecycle in general, at least as moderator we get first dibs lol, mind you we have had some great offereds lately a bmw 525tdi jusdt needing sills welding for mot, motorbikes with spare engine that needs fitting, caravans, 42" rear projection tv just needing a £20 bulb, I only ask for things I do need though and always post them before asking myself.

I didn't even manage to join, I didn't apply in exactly the right way and got a snotty email from the fascist in charge so told her to stick it and took all the stuff I had from moving house to the tip instead...

Thats a new one to me:thinking:
Ours you send a blank email to admin to join and thats it!
Mind you one guy we banned because he was replying to wanteds offering to sell them stuff, rejoined with an almost identical email just ading a 2 on to it, banned again so he added a 3 etc, so little imagination if he'd done a different email he would have slipped under the radar for awhile!

Well that's how it should be. They want your name, location and why you want to join. I mean DUH!!! After I pressed the send button it told me that if I hadn't included my postcode in the signup to email it to them. Screw that, they can google map my location or stick it. Mods with a capital 'G' by the looks of it ;-)

Dont get me started on the 48hour xbox code beggars lol.

I will take some old notes off your hands like lol. Them that my hubby refuses to take off me cuz they look battered and ripped. I shall stick on selotape and use them to buy shoes for my poor children so they don't have to go clubbing in bare feet. Oh we can also use said money to buy drugs and pay for prostitutes but I wouldn't know about that as my hubby wouldn't tell me.

agree op i used to post regular on freecycle giving loads of stuff away and when they turned up for stuff were in big fancy cars full of stuff they had blagged so i stopped offering and now it goes to the tip

some of the requests are unreal i remember 1 was wanted plasma tv PREFERABLY over 32 inches but would consider smaller, i emailed them saying i had 2 a 37" and a 42" one just for a laugh then i told him to feck off

I tried being on Freecycle once. Took a hideous amount of effort to get registered, although I did eventually get through it, and try to post my ad for a free uplighter. Responses? None. The mods never allowed the post to go live.

It's a shame that Freecycle is staffed by such wasters. It'd be great otherwise.

just ignore those who ask for outrageous stuff, just cos they ask dont mean anyones obliged to give it to them, if someone wants to its their perogative, i was gratefully given a cat scratching post when i requested once

You can't even get a plasma under 42" can you? Or would they have settled for an LCD?

I once gave away a lovely Ikea headboard that was £100 to buy new, I moved house and it didn't fit... I got over 50 responses for it. Anyways, I picked the person who didn't write a big sob story and who seemed genuine enough. When they came to collect, they had a BMW towing a trailer. They came in and said they had a bad back so could I take it out to the car for them...then, as they were standing in my doorway, they asked if there was anything else I 'wanted rid of'. They told me they were furnishing flats they were putting up for rent. I kept the rest of the parts of the headboard, asked them to leave and still have them in my shed....

exactly, they are such beggars on there, I don't ask for much, in fact I never ask for anything, I just wanna clear my house, and begads, they take it............

they aint even beggars they are parasites as they already have loads more than most

luckily we have loads of registered charity's that drop in bags for goods so any toys and old clothes go in those and now if decent furniture i'll phone or email local charities to see if they want them

only time i asked for anything was for a BROKEN laptop as 2 year old son likes to demolish dads lol got no replies

I tried to give away a few things last week. Pretty much brand new things that cost me £50+ and still as new, but they refused to put my add up because I failed to state 'offered' in the title. I was asked to repost using this method. I have not.

If i'm offering I search peoples email addresses and see if any of the people asking for it also offer decent stuff.

If people turn up and do lok like traders drop the mod an email we (or at least I) do take note and if the same name crops up more than once its bye bye to them! It goes against the spirit of freecycle. We arent all up our own backsides you know!

but they arent charities, doh! thats the point shengmeister is making!

We have a charity shop straight behind our house so kids stuff goes there! Simple and fuss free drop it over our fence and give them a bell!
