lol

Seriously, i run 2k in about 10 mins, and im reasonably fit, so i would say 25 mins is a respectable time

At 18 I could do 2.5km is 8.5 minutes, I was in the forces though so quite fit.

I've met beer, fags & takeaways since then though and can only do it in about 13 now. So i'd say 31 minutes is a reasonable time especially if you're over 25.

I think the more i go the faster i get. I'm aiming for about 25mins but I know treadmill isnt the same as real ground!
.

i run faster outside than on the treadmill, got a 4 mile route outside that i do and i do it under 28 min, but 4 mile on the treadmill takes me longer, something about my technique on real ground carries me further for less energy

I always found it easier on real ground, you can see where you're going and concentrate on reaching the next milestone i.e. when I get to the end of the road it's another km done. Whereas on a treadmill you can only see the distance covered display and whatever is right in front of you.

If any of that makes sense

you will run faster outside
you will have faster runners who will drag you through
you may well be suprised

yeah that does make sense... I was a bit unprepared today with no music and no water bottle, i think i'll try again tomorrow but push myself. I know I never really pushed myself today cause i caught my breath back and was normal within a minute and my legs dont ache.

I do admit i had a stitch at the start and my lateral muscles hurt?! any tips on stopping this? do i need to stretch my upper body before i go for a jog?

Make sure you drink plenty of water, always have a proper stretch before (all over) and make sure when you've finished running you warm down rather than just stopping. It will only get easier every time you do it.

I never listened to music, I found it distracted me but I was quite obsessed at the time with just running lol

I ran my last 10k in 38:25 (PB) haven't done a 5k in a while but could do <18:30, I'm fitter now than when I left the army. If you enjoy running look to join a local athletics club. I joined my local harriers and have went from strength to strength. If I'm running on my todd I need music, but in a group or race am fine

yeah I'm only doing it for the race.. but i may get into it. I know a lot of serious runners at work so if i do get into it it could be fun and good for my career at the same time ;)

<18.30 is freaking awesome btw well done you! I dont think i'll aim for that... I only have a month!

Cheers, still better to come (I hope) still people alot quicker than me at the club mind, one lad from our club done the 10k in 32 mins, didn't win neither!!

In the summer, after exams I'm going to get mega fit and run about 40ish miles a week. In 2011 I might do the London Marathon.

Crikey. If it were Spurs and Arsenal playing the game in that position, the tears in my beer would be from sheer joy!

Steve Gibson is a top geezer. Best Chairman in the league by far.

I'm a lazy mess, and I think (although I don't know the actual distance) last time I was running, did about 2-3 miles in 15 mins rofl, and was SHATTERED at the end.

Haven't ran in months though, so even more unfit. If I actually made it over the finish line, I'd be happy.

21 btw. I reckon I'd have been fine a few years ago while I was still fit from playing football.
