hi mate, yeah it has a CIR reciever by ENE. i think its supposed to support MCE remotes (which is what i set the harmony 555 to) but it doesnt look like its detecting the signal :-(

is there any IR monitor program on your laptop? or does it just work? my laptop didn't come with a remote but it has the reciever.

Tried making sure its turned on in the BIOS?

Does it show up in your devices list? May need installing.

is there an associated application on the pc? or just drivers?

you pressed the hot key to turn it on?

the application needs to be installed for it to recognise the hot key press.

looking at the manual it doesn't say anything about it accepting remote commands, only that it will transfer to other devices.

"The computer's Fast Infrared (FIR) port allows you to do wireless data transfer with other IR-aware computers and peripherals such as PDAs, mobile phones, and infrared printers. The infrared port can transfer data at speeds of up to 4 Mbps at a distance of up to one meter."
