Love Cosworths, my mum used to have a Sapphire Cowsworth with a dump valve and scared all the old people when she changed gear!

Replace the subaru badge for a ford one and take it into fords for a service and watch them scratch their heads, lol

Indeed. But you know what I mean surely, should of left the look the way it was.

Usually this sort of car looks like the subject of a Chavs wet dream, all 'bling' and no style (see post 19 for an example, U-G-L-Y), but this actually looks quite nice.
#7
Lol Subaru fail with the body work (making it into a hatchback) now fail in building a proper engine, getting Cossie to build it for them! lol. At least they admitted now that they can't build a proper engine ;)

Theres no Cold button.. :p

P.s. I actually prefered the saloon version, save the 'hot hatch' look for the sub division.. now it looks like they're running with the CTR, GTi etc's.. (unless your telling me hatchbacks are better for rallying then thats a different story.)

The crappy steering wheel and back end let it down for me.

Power it has but looks it doesn't.

Prefer that with some more stream lining and weight loss.

is that it :? 400bhp out of a 2.5 engine, seen more out of a motorbike engine ½ that size :w00t:

395bhp per tonne, though. How heavy is the new Subaru compared to the motorbike you mentioned?

BFN,

fp.
#12
whatsThePoint
that makes the car look even worst, a 400bhp bike is over 1000bhp per ton

But if the gta series has taught me anything it's that you can go as fast as you like on a motorbike but you will be paying for it when you smash into a lamp post.

But its ugly

Considering the worlds fastest production bikes are all under 200bhp I think you're a bit of the mark. Unless you're talking about concepts, one offs or turbine driven bikes in which case it's not exactly a fair comparison to a production car now is it.....:whistling:
#15
...... and i'm spent!
#16
whatsThePoint
LOL of course a turbine bike is a fair comparison, but then again it hasn't been modded by a tuning company and is standard, so maybe it needs to be sent to a tuning company to make it a fair comparison :?
this car is a limited production run modified by cotsworth plus other tuning companies, so no different from a bike tuner building 1 or 100 bikes
Anyway i bet most standard bikes over 400cc beats it on 0-60, 0-100 and ¼ mile times anyway, so lets be honest real performance is lacking anyway if compaired to a bike

how is 2 wheels versus 4 wheels a fair comparison exactly?

technically the bike should be twice as fast

You do know what a turbine engine is right? Hardly comparable to an internal combustion engine now is it? If turbine engines are a fair comparison then the car world has this to offer: http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/ and if we're allowing things that cost ridiculous money, like the turbine bike, in the equation then the car world has these too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fastest_cars_by_acceleration LOL.

Limited run or not, it's still a production car and -no- production bike running an internal combustion engine gets over 200bhp!

Your point being? I didn't dispute that bikes tend to be quicker off the mark, what I disputed was your nonsense talking about 400bhp bikes as if they're common.
#18
whatsThePoint
How did i say they were common, i said

hardly stating the world was full of them or even that it was a standard production bike

If that's the case then I fail to see the point of your comment, it's like someone commenting on a thread about home computers saying that the performance is rubbish because a Cray's better. :p
banned#19
crap car cant get my working dog in the back... are they doing and estate version:whistling:
#20
whatsThePoint
You computer comparison like most of your others does not make sense, i stated you can get just as much power out of a far smaller engine, for your comparison to work your saying a home computer can match a cray :w00t:

If both items are dropped out of a tenth storey window at the same time will the Cray supercomputer hit the ground first? Does that make it the faster of the two?

Hmmm....

Buying the Subaru you wouldn't have to buy two cars (& have two insurance policies, two sets of Road Tax Duty, & two sets of servicing costs).

But yes, cheaper cars with sufficient performance that also allow the transportation of other objects are available.

I do miss my Subaru Impreza WRX with the Prodrive Performance Pack though. I always knew what it would do when driven hard, & I only lost the rear end sideways when I was taking a roundabout at over 80mph. One flick of the wheel to the right & it was back on-track.

My Chrysler 300c 6.1 SRT-8 is nowhere near as fun to drive, but both vehicles transport 5 adults (or 2 adults & 3 kids), plus shopping, in comfort.

I'm in the market for a new car at present; maybe a Caterham 7, or an Ariel Atom 3.

I assume they would be for fun...as you might find it hard transporting 5 adults :p

also going round a roundabout at 80mph lol that was only ever gonna turn out in one result

The two you have highlighted would be for my commuting & track days.

You'd be surprised how well the asymmetrical all-wheel drive of an Impreza copes with anything you throw at it.

Much like a Mitsubishi (Lancer) Evo(lution).

My 300c, albeit set-up for racing (hence the "Street Racing Technology" [SRT]), is just too darn heavy to do anything with at similar speeds. It is also automatic & 2 wheel drive, so I cannot throw it around as much I would like... if the law allowed.

Commuting...I hope you dont have to go far lol. The atom doesnt even come with a roof does it?...or even the option to add a roof?

have you looked at any other types of track day cars, lotus, noble, radical?

The Radical isn't practical due to the low profile versus speed bumps. Not great on hot days either.

Lotus cars seem to build the pedals too close together for me to drive properly. I almost hit a bus once trying to slow down as I got the accelerator instead. The salesman was a little flustered to say the least! :) Not just the Elise, Exige, & 340R either. The Esprit (II) was difficult to drive too :(

The Noble I tried had very poor rear visibility.

Yes, it has only been in the last few years that the Atom has gained a proper "flyscreen" (I won't say "windscreen"... it is more of a "bubble screen") so that you are not knocked out by oncoming insects. No roof, no sides, no compromise, etc.

Down the country roads of Somerset where I took a test drive it handled like a go-kart though!

It's going to get ugly?! Can it get any uglier? Its probably the most hideous looking new car on the road at this present time!! Scoobys have never been pretty but this is just fugly! What's more the price is STUPID, which sane person would buy this ugly monstrosity over a Porsche, High powered German car (i.e Merc AMG, BMW M3/5 and Audi Sx), Skyline or even a top end Mitsu Evo? If they do they are either very rich or very stupid. Subaru have really lost their way.
#38
its a cosworth for christ sake........they produce engines for sevaeral F1 teams, are involved with fighter jets etc and its limited.........a work of engineering art

what more do you want, admittedly i prefer the saloon imprezas but its a cossie..........i miss them:(
