I'm planning to retire around 45 and enjoy my retirement!

not about working till you're almost dead!

arn't pipe dreams wonderful !!! a lot of people thought exactly the same but it hasn't worked out like that.

I want to semi-retire at 40. Then I will "locum" and earn loads of money.

Doesn't the legal lot just retire to the golf club (mostly the 19th hole) ?

Ideally I have set my retirement age at between 45 and 50...Realisitcally I'd probably be retiring at 95.

sometimes it;s forced on you, i am 40, and dont work full hours, (about 25 hours) due to health problems that I didnt forsee in the 20's but luckily so far, did well enough to be able to do this, even then, there is sacrifice.

me too. Do you get any benefit help or live off savings? I get a bit bored in winter tbh.

55, that's when my mortgage pays off and I will have 30 years contributions to my teacher pension. Ideally would like to stop earlier as I work to live not live to work.

LOL... Do you live in Eastbourne! :w00t:

Do the same as George Osborne. Get a job working for a mate. When you start, outsource it to someone else. Convince everyone that you are still required in a managerial role.
Result = get paid while others do your job = pretty darn close to retirement anyway but still able to get expenses paid. Simples.

Seems the french are revolting again as Sarkosy plans to increase retirement age in France. At present many retire at 58.5

My Dads almost 80 and still works - one positive thing that has come from this, he is that his about the fittest man alive for his age - still does half marathons in his spare-time and swims a mile, 5 times a week at the baths!

Even when I officially retire I'm going to go back and do a part time job in a super market so I can stay active and meet loads of new people. The wife is going to do the same, hopefully in the same supermarket we met when we worked there.
