if you can get somewhere to verify it is fake you can keep it. it is illegal to send fakes via post for starters.

What was it?
It is easy enough to go to a genuine retailer and ask them to write a report on headed notepaper confirming it's a report?
Start the paypal dispute asap.
I have heard that it's illegal to send counterfeit items through the Royal Mail system, so if you can prove it's fake you will be told by paypal to 'dispose of the item' yourself.

You not going to get away with not sending it back are you ? just send it back and get your cash back why bother.

Maybe if sellers selling fakes on eBay realised it wasn't ok and get hit where it hurts then they won't do it.
Never had it happen to myself, but I hope it wasn't a Christmas pressie and you aren't too disappointed.

Go to your local trading standards office or a letter from a genunine retailler will be enough for a paypal claim there will be no need to return it.

[can't open a paypal dispute yet as it hasn't been long enough.

Are you sure? You should be able to open a 'significantly not as described', try starting the dispute through paypal rather than through ebay.

i had a moron, recently, telling me i had sold him fake boots. the boots were genuine and very limited edition. he took pics of them and made a big fuss about it. luckily i had the receipts for it still.

point being, not all items are fake even though they may look it. and im pretty sure all the monkeys at footlocker or jd sports would have said the boots were fake, simpl because they have never seen such a thing.
