already in cinemas-and I hated it btw-hated slumdog, hated this-each to their own and all that, but to me the story lacked any tension(we all know whats gonna happen)-the flashbacks to "evaluate his life" were pointless and boring-cant understand why so many people hail danny boyle as some sort of genius.

They're different. You can sort of imagine how bad it would feel being trapped like that.
Mind you, with slumdog, you can imagine how crap it must feel to live in India, so maybe not so different.

Ive not watched it and whilst not all films that use the format are bad (Pulp Fiction springs to mind), i have to agree I dont like it either. "Crash" springs to mind which I thought was a waste of time despite the rave reviews.

"the fighter" and "conviction" are far better "true stories" imho-maybe because I didnt actually know the outcome-wasnt aware of the court case in conviction, nor had I ever heard of the boxer in the fighter so the ending comes as something new.

I hadnt actually heard of the central character in 127 hours either, but given that all the reviews tell you what happens, and the guy himself is promoting the film and clearly has a prosthetic arm in the interviews there isnt much tension there is there?

And Im getting bored of danny boyles "style" now tbh as well.

It's a great film with a really interesting take on the events.

I've heard some idiots say that because the story is so well-known then where's the tension? I mean, to me that is a moronic argument.

It's like saying that Citizen Kane is flawed because you know from the outset that he's dead, or that Cerlito's Way is rubbish because you see him get shot at the start.

Films aren't just about getting from A to B - it's about the journey that the characters go on to get there and this is a highly visceral experience. James Franco is excellent too, although I can't think of many roles he's been in lately where he hasn't been great.

the fighter was a great film aswel but I so hated the ambiguous ending!!! In inception I thought the ambiguous ending actually worked well.

ambiguous ending?? are you thinking of "the wrestler"?? there is nothing ambiguous about the ending of the fighter m8-its this years big oscar tip.

I know. I thought about changing it but I really didn't think that a typo would be that out of place on here.
