Good news for people with lots of friends...

maybe the founders want to pocket all the profit for themselves....

Don't think payment is required, as some just like to share.

Most deals are from MSE or offer of the day anyways....so how much is a cut and paste worth?
[mod] 6 Likes #4
No. The site would be full of loads of crap posted.

If people want to post for personal gain then i'd say the site isn't for them.
#5
Rpoints used to do this, I think the poster used to get 1% of the cashback from people clicking through the link and buying.
#6
As far as I know HUKD gets paid for clicking through to deals, in a similar way to Quidco. So, if the user is getting the cash HUKD isn`t. Can`t imagine them wanting to run the site for free.

they are running the site, fine but its the members that are searching for the deals....not that I want to be paid just trying to reason along with the poster.

Obviously the amount they generate through the click throughs would far far outweigh any money given out to members. Easy enough to strike a middleground.

You would get constant reposts of people trying to cash in on popular items and thousands of garbage deals for every tiny little thing. Feedback would also be full of whiny threads from people demanding their money or claiming a deal was copied from elsewhere.

Also you would be taking money away from the site which wouldn't really be a good thing.

Except only certain retailers earn the site money, then if people use Quidco etc on those sites they don't earn either.

You'd then have extra costs of more mods as people would be spamming others deals left, right and centre to post the deal themselves which would happen just like people register umpteen accounts just for a couple of quid voucher for Amazon on the giveaways.

It would kill the site and make it unusable i think.
#14
I guess you could say they do give back in the form of the voucher competitions, etc, maybe there could be a more regular feature depending how well the site is doing...

Of course you're not taking away from the site. You're taking away from a rich man's pocket.

With regards to posting tiny deals - only pay out on the top 5/10 deals each day as in my OP.
And ban serial offenders.

A great model, would be where the site picks up a percentage of the click throughs and the balance to the member clicking....... or deal poster. Never gonna happen though... unless its a new site.

What's that got to do with this? The big society is based on power for the people..how would this go against that?

Thats a very valid point , and one way around it is if the mod's chose the people who bought the most benefit to the site/members and not necessarily the most popular or most heated.

That would be an incentive for members to look harder than they already do.

If the site started losing profits because it was giving money to members for posting deals they would surely have to make up that shortfall somehow with the most likely being adverts.

You would also likely get a stream of short term new members reposting popular deals or posting garbage deals hoping they can make easy cash. Even if serial spammers were banned you would have enough new people trying to get money for nothing that it would change the site.

Maybe Amazon vouchers for a deal that brings in a certain amount of cashback for the site would work?

For many reasons the system you propose would not work.

People will abuse the heat system against a member they dislike. There will be fake votes. I could go on but I wont.

We use this website without having to pay a subscription. Being paid to do what we already do would certainly make the site lose its community feel.

You would then also get major advertising allowed on the site to increase revenue - who wants loads of banners all over the site to wade through getting to the deals - not me!

Not quite sure how you made that leap, but okay.

Look, I understand your point is a valid one. You have a right to your opinion. However when you signed up to the site you were presented with info explaining the sites ethos.
If you dont like it, in a free society, you are very welcome to take your idea elsewhere.

Sorry Wooly, I didn't realise these things are set in stone. Nothing ever changes or evolves.
Hmm.

Everything needs to evolve to stay at the top...products, services, ideas, everything. You pay people for the 'hottest' deals, more of an incentive for people to post their deals and find deals. Site grows. Members (both deal submitting and non-deal submitting) benefit.
#31
The site has a feedback section that allows for all of that. Or maybe you havent noticed. Its the heading next to misc.
It may be that you are looking for something different than HUKD has to offer. Just sayin.....
#32
I suppose the OP is correct in a way that everything can improve & if improved then the owners will profit more,so all in all everyone is a winner.

I'm not sure about being paid to post, but I'd definitely be up for paying certain members to not post. Ten consecutive deals of £5 DVDs of movies released fifteen, twenty-odd years ago? 5p a head to just STFU? Count me in.

Nah I was just looking to suggest an idea that would improve the site. Shame that in your eyes the website isn't allowed to change at all.

Abolutely not in my opinion

There are a few particularly members who insist in putting the same posts on month after month after month when the price hasnt changed at all. Im sure one in particular must diary the time to stick the post on again.

The same few must have nothing better to do with themselves than to do that and basically copy and paste the whole of Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda's website even when its naff deals like 1p off something or seperate posts when its a deal thats on offer across all stores.

These few already seem to think its a competition to post the most rubbish on here already so lord help us if they got paid for it.

All this does is push real HOT deals down the pages extra quick meaning people miss many pretty good deals on hotuktescoasdasainsburysdeals.com

They will not miss out if they click on the Hot tab.
