02 broadband router keeps restarting

Hi all,
I've been with 02 now for a few months and since i've had it the router periodicly restarts itself. I've spoken with 02 who have tired just about everything, firmware, WPA keys, filters on the line, plugged into the mains, BT line checked etc etc and i'm on the 3rd router now (standard package white router) and it is still happening. It seems to happen more often when a certain laptop is used but how could a laptop restart the router - 02 said this was not possible? I was with Sky for a year without any problems. I don't really want to go and buy a 3rd party router.

Just looking to see if anyone else has a similiar problem.

Do you have ADSL Cable going through an extension phone cable into the ADSL Filter? - mine was doing this and i removed the extension lead and pluged it straight into the ADSL Filter and was fine after that

Get the router to log all error message info to a device you think is not causing the issue, and then add the suspected laptop to the network and wait for the router to restart. View log.

What you are saying though could well be the issue. Im sure its the master socket I am using though and not an extension.

It is ASDL2 as far as i'm aware. The phone socket is connected with a filter, the phone line plugs into the filter as with the other cable and goes into the router.

Thanks for the reply!

I also moved from Sky but couldn't get on with the O2 router. I flashed the Sky router (a white Netgear DG834GT) and am using it with O2. You might want to try this to see if it's a router problem?

Had the same problem myself. Just switched to a netgear, certain models are literally so easy to get on with o2. It was the o2 router, no problems since. Get yourself a netgear. I got mine for 18 quid on here and there were a few offers for that price.

change the default password for setup as someone may well be just logging in rebooting router :lol

When you say restarting though do you mean restarting or a resync ?

what line stats do you get for SNR, attenuation etc
