i currentley pay 30 pound a month for my iphone 3gs but as stated in my other thread i really want a iphone 4 but my contract has another 12 months running and i cant afford really to pay the rest off just like that !!! anyways i emailed 02 saying im getting made redundant etc etc [which im not ,i know naughty] so anways i just got this reply

Good morning Andrew

Thanks for emailing us about your contract.

I understand your concern that you want to downgrade your tariff. I'll
quickly help you.

I've personally checked your account and I can see that you're on the
iPhone 30.00 24 month tariff. I realise you'll be in a difficult
position to pay your bill.

You'll be glad to know that I've gone ahead and downgrade your tariff to
the next lower tariff available for you. I've changed your tariff to the
iPhone 25 24 month tariff. This will be effective from 10 September
2010.

- Monthly subscription £25.00 (including VAT)
- Free 100 minutes
- Free Unlimited texts

I've also applied a line rental discount of £5.00 for 12 months to your
account. This will be effective from 15 August 2010. Your monthly bill
be reduced to £20.00 per month apart from your usage.

I hope this resolves the purpose of your email.

i then thought dammn they have extended my contract so i emailed 02 back and they replied saying no your contract will finish in 12 months !!!

so that means result !! i can sell my i phone 3gs on mazuma or something and just put the cash i get for my 3gs into my bank each month and go aged and get a iphone 4!!

naughty i know !!

I just phoned O2 to see if they'd match a Tesco Mobile tariff (which is better than anything O2 offer, but I wanted to stay on O2 ideally as a few mates have free O2-O2 calls..) but unfortunately they didn't offer anywhere near it - best they could do is 100 mins, unlt texts, unltd web as opposed to the same from Tesco but with 500 mins.

Also, the woman on the phone said I was in month 16 of my contract when I am actually in month 11 (as far as I know).. I signed up for a 12 month SIM in September '09 so I'm not sure how she worked that out...

i'm sorry?

You lied to 02 customer services that you were going made redundant, getting a reduction... Yet others are congratulating you on it?

Be nice when 02 realises people are doing it to often, resulting in agents being stopped from offering such reductions.. So when somebody who is genuinely being made redundant, tough luck.

Perhaps you should have the common sense, sign upto a contract which you intend to pay properly.. Rather than being a deceptive little *bleep bleep*

Maybe this is why O2 and other companies are offering such poor retention offers.

A real kick in the teeth to those of us who pay the contracted amount each month and stick it out until the contracts end only to be faced with pathetic offers as a reward for our loyalty and honesty.

LMAO I love how people can turn topics round like this.

Boo!

Actually he has a completely valid point.

There is a thread on moneysavingexpert, people listing what they've gotten when complaining to companies. Goes on for pages. Although most people have valid complaints, as anyone bragging about bogus or pointless ones get shot down by members.

Quite a few customer service reps have commented on the thread, saying that it was nice to see that people making genuine complaints. That any 'trends' get picked up quite quickly, then it just makes it more difficult for people to offer it the next time.

I don't care if somebody lies a bit to blag a good deal, thats half the fun.. But using something like redundancy to do so, it's pretty pathetic.. Especially when you consider the state the country is in.. Be a shame if somebody who really needed that rung up 02 and got turned down, purely as people like the OP have been exploited the fact.

Exactly he will have paid £690 over 24 months so as the phone costs £450 it's not that great a deal and he has 12 months to go on a 100 min a month contract. :(
