02 sent text to random person - advise needed

Long story short, am on 02, having problems with crackly calls, mum and partner are also experiencing them, yet good signal, so can onlny assume it's a problem with the network.

But my important question is, last week I sent a text to my partner and got a text back from a completely random number asking who I was. After her phoning me twice, we deduced that my text intended for my partner was copied to her (as my partner also received the text). My outbox only shows it going to my partner, I don't even have this randoms number in my phone.

Anyway, I'm really hacked off about this and worried that other texts may be going astray.

Does this sound like a good enough reason to phone up and ask to get out of my contract early? That their in breach of contract? I've only got 3 months left, but so annoyed with all the problems want out. But want to see if this sounds reasonable first?

call customer service and see what they say first of all

they will probably release you from the contract if it's their fault (especially as there's only a few months left)

No breach of contract, just a tech issue. Did you call the network and ask them for a reason ?

This happened to me over a year ago too, im also on o2

Was replying to a message my partner sent me and it was sent to some random person and my partner never recieved the message.

Seemed to be a one off thing, never happened to me again and I send another message to my partner after and it got to him ok.

Say you want to leave because it is a huge security breach, and you can no longer trust the network to handle your sensitive calls and messages.

This happened to me once but during a call. I was in Asda on the phone to my fiance and it went quiet and i was saying hello... hello.. then some old man was in the middle of talking about going to pick his daughter up and then i kept saying hello hello and he couldnt hear me but i could hear his whole conversation!

When i rang my fiance back he said his end just went dead so he hung up, while i was left with some stranger!

Think its just a one off technical issue - The calls just overlapped, but again this is a huge security breach and quite worrying!

This happened to me about a week ago, i was on the phone to my girlfriend and it went all crackly and then just faded out. After a couple of seconds of silence some woman was waffling on about when the boat comes in or something like that. She couldn't hear me saying hello down the phone. It lasted about 30 seconds and then went dead, it was so weird.

Are all these other incidents also with O2? I'm sure O2 wouldn't like all these stories finding their way to the press ;-)

Does anyone know what the charge is to leave 02 early? I've phoned and been given £15 credit, but that's as far as their going, I want to know what the charge is to cancel early.

You'll have to buy out the remainder of the contract. So if its 3 months left on a £30 contract it'd be £90 (minus the credit they gave you

So no extra charge? Cos the woman on the phone said there would be a £70 charge? I assumed she meant a one off charge plus paying off the end of my contract.

There should be no charge as you are paying the value of the completed contract in full. The £70 might have been what the contract remaining would have cost.

If they are trying to add an extra charge just send a letter cancelling the contract at the end of its term and doen't use the sim. They won't get any extra money and you will only be paying the remainder of the 3 months without adding to the cost

i may have been experiencing this got a woman phoning me up telling me to stop texting or calling her when i didn't even text her or phone her, she said she would get he police. but i text a number from my phone book, i wonder if this has happened to me on Monday.

This is very concerning as it has given my number out to randoms which i did not request

Has not happened since but that person now has not stopped calling me from a blocked number / withheld

Happened to my wife when making a call in France, she is on O2 as am I. We put it down to something funny happening with the roaming.

What they've said is that the issue might be because I'm using a 2g sim when my phone is 3g, so they're sending me out a 3g sim. May wait til they send it out and then tell them the issues are still happening to try and get out of the contract.

I hope this doesn't happen to me, as the top secret missile codes might get into the wrong hands....

This is nothing, I had a call from some random saying my number came up on a picture message of her daughter!!

After hours of complaining it turns out that this was an iPhone specific problem. And the womans husband sent the picture and it came up with my phone number!!
