02030043199/cold callers?

Hi, I've been getting a minimum of 4 calls a day for about a week from the above number, starting from about 8am. Have never answered any of them as the answerphone kicks in before I get there. They left a message yesterday, for me by name, said they were calling in response to a recent enquiry I've made. Didn't state where they were calling from & as i'm certain Ive made no enquiries I didn't call back.
I googled the number and came across a site where people have been saying they've been called ridiculous amounts of times and they never give up, offering them IVAs, mortgage advise etc.
Anyway just wondering is there a way to stop them calling me, because from reading that site, nothing seems to work. Im with VM and not ex directory. Its just such a pain as they don't give up!
Thanks, and rep will be given to all who help.

Might be worth a try

Don't bother with that 1, just realised it charges a fee. There should be a free one I would have thought.

If your with BT ring 01142020289 and ask them to sign you up for the telephone preferance scheme, it stops the majority of your sales and marketing calls, its a free service and you can also request free caller display with it aswell.

if you do get cold calls, dont just hang up, stay on the phone for 45 seconds, if you hang straight up you go back into the que for a call back!

hope this will help you

Yes, register with the TPS ( Telephone preference service I think ) and if any one like this calls again, let them know, A, you are registered with the TPS
B, they are breaking the law by calling you
and C, you will report them.

Thanks for that bit of info, as 9/10 I would probably hang up straight away. Im with Virgin Media, so don't know if they offer the same kind of services?

Answer the call and when they offer you anything tell them you were declared bankrupt 2 months ago!

That'll stop em.

 That seems like a great idea, lol. Might have to give that a go. Anything to stop them harrassing!

It's a finance sales company cold calling from India. If they seem to hang up it's probably because it's an auto dial process which phones numbers & waits for one of their sales people to answer if it gets connected.

Ask to be removed from their database & register with TPS

I'll ask to be removed, not sure how much notice they'll take though... And a lot of people on that site say they are registered with TPS and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Is there anything I can say to them that may make them think twice about calling me?

Somebody mentioned OFCOM, but not sure who/what they are etc.
Thanks for your help everybody  Will rep you all

Nope, have never heard of any of them, from what I can figure they change their name on a regular basis!

You can sign up to the TPS online at the above link - it doesn't matter who your landline provider is.

Thanks, Im going to register with TPS, as others have also suggested. I was hoping I could be armed with something like this, that they are breaking the law, but didn't want to just come out with it in case it was just a load of rubbish.

Thanks to everyone once again, I may not be a regular on here, but you are always very helpful

Answer the call ,tell the caller to hang on and you will get the person they want, then leave him hanging on until He gets fed up,they will get the message.
