Ok - Just had a flick through the spm after reding this thread and there was one- a bogus email from NATWEST asking me to renew my online banking details so BEWARE!

: During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and verification procedures, we were unable to verify your account information. This might be due to either one of the following reasons:

1. A recent change in your personal information (i.e. change of address).

2. Submitting invalid information during the initial enrollment process.

3. An inability to accurately verify your account information due to an internal error within our processors.

We demand that you take 5 minutes out of your online experience and renew your records to avoid running into any future problems with the online service. However, failure to update your records will result in your account suspension. Once you have updated your account records your internet banking service will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. click on Sign On to Internet Banking to continue the account Update process.

Thank you for banking with us.

There are a couple of cool things you can do with gmail.

One is you can manage multiple accounts via gmail, basically sending all the mail to one singular gmail account. So one account for friends, one for work and one to sign up for ****.

You can also use the suffix @googlemail.com or @gmail.com and both will end up at the same account, so you can keep mail seperate.

There is another cool feature and thats the ability to add "+" and still recieve mail. Imagine you are getting a car insurance quote and need to supply an email and you gmail is [email protected]">[email protected], you can put [email protected] and it will still arrive in your inbox. You can then see what other spam arrives with [email protected] in the header to work out who is passing on your address.

Not all useful but interesting all the same.

I find it best to make a few email accounts, one for singing up to junk (junk mail = ∞, ), one for friends and foes (junk mail = far too much) and one for business (junk mail = zero).

I very rarely get any spam in my gmail account, 2 or 3 a month max, but then I only use it for my ebay accounts and paypal accounts.
Yahoo on the other hand 20+ a day but most are forwarded from one or other of my domain email accounts, when I see one getting hammered I cancel all forwarding as I only use them for signing up for freebies and other offers!

My Google account is loaded with them, but the SPAM filter caught them all.

From what I have seen googles spam filter is very efficient it catches spam but not any emails you want, yahoo on the other hand 99% of spam goes into the spam folder but so do wanted emails, last night I was talking to someone via email but half their messages went into spam and the others in my inbox, strange!!!!
