Also virgin have announced they will be reporting and removing people who illegally download, and tbh, everyone konws that's the only reason you need a 20meg connection.

where have Virgin stated this ?

what speed are you paying for kippy

2mb. if that makes sense.
#23
lets wait and see

to quote TorrentFreak

Virgin Media in the UK has announced that it is working with the music industry to chase down its file-sharing customers and disconnect them from the internet. At the same time, it will offer an enhanced service which will see its customers get free Usenet binaries access, untraceable by the music industry.

so they will report filesharing via P2P but allow untraceable binaries - very strange

also found this

http://www.computeractive.co.uk/computeractive/news/2213475/virgin-distances-itself-three

Somehow I think an ISP who offers some of the fastest connections in the market will cut of its nose etc etc seems strange unless they also plan to offer some kind of legal service that will generate income for them.

If they really do this watch the droves leaving VM.......

its verry close to 2mb its 1.8mb your getting

thanks raptorcigs. i called virgin and managed to get them to change my tariff (isn't it great customer service they DON'T offer it to you in the first place - that's the reward for staying with them 7 years!)

L tv cable (85 channels – i wanted living tv and OH wanted discovery for the bikes/tattoos etc)
M phone (free weekend calls nationwide)
M broadband (2mb)
all for the grand total of £30 per month (excluding weekday phone calls)

it's like suing the bus driver for transporting a shoplifter to asda

I like that.

And I not really a CPW fan, but fair play to them (PR????) for refusing to enforce the BPI/Labour governments stupid plans on file sharing.

I win (lose) :|

Would you not be better on a fixed rate service?

Would you not be better on a fixed rate service?

I've thought that but not sure how it all works, not sure if BT even do fixed rate any more.
#30
They do, whats your Line Loss/Loop Attenuation.
#31
Not 100% what that is, 31.5 / 63.5 is the figure next to Line Attenuation in my home hub manager.

Thanks for the help :-)
#32
I have no problems with Virgin, I don't use bittorrent anymore but I'm always using usenet and Alt.binz on an ssl connection, always hit my maximum speed now :)

I'm on 20mb, these tests results are a little off though since I just downloaded at my maximum 20000kb/s 5mins ago.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/255875418.png

also it might be worth for some to do a test here, to double check.

Your on a long line, Rate Adaptive (which your on) is probably best. You'd only get 1/2 meg fixed on a long line like that.
