changed the laws how? I thought parking on pavements was illegal...and so it should be in my oppinion.

Parking on the pavement afaik is effectively the same restriction as is on the road. ie if it's a double yellow then you can't park but if there's no lines then you're fine I think (as long as the pavement's big enough etc).

It's very common where I live.

parking on the pavment is a nightmare for pedestrians though, what about blind people? wheelchair uses? anyone trying to push a buggy...esp a double buggy lol

Ah, we got a letter recently about them changing the lines on the road and it basically said that the same applies if parking on the pavement (ie a double yellow is still a double yellow). Which would suggest that if there were no lines on the pavement then you should be fine to park there as long as you're not causing an obstruction.

my mate got what looked like an official ticket on his car for having two wheels on a pavement. However inside was just a 'ticking off' sayying that you should avoid it where possible!

Lots here about it here

http://home.freeuk.net/derbygripe/parking.htm

"Sergeant Pete Szabo, a spokesman for Derbyshire police, said, "It's not an offence to park on the pavement per se but, if it causes an obstruction, there is the power to issue a ticket or to offer the motorist advice." "

Hi everyone

I park on pavements all the time, but only when there's plenty of room for people to pass without hitting my car!

thats ok aslong as crips like me can get past

cool, thanks!

I have to push a double pushchair so I'm always concious that people need a fair amount of room to get passed still.

Its illegal to park on the pavement in this way unless its specifically marked as ok to do so.

It'll be something similar to this if allowed.

I got caught out myself with this about 15 years ago, when I parked across a drive. The drive itself wasnt a problem (since its next to my wifes shop and the drop pavement not used.) I successfully argued my case that there is no issue with using the drive itself and wasnt on the pavement. I think however, I was just lucky!

People don't care here and park on pavements. There is 1 road I use,and at the end of the rd is a carpark for residents,so why they don't use that I don't know.
The paths are very narrow, and not only they park on the path but on both sides of the rd too,the rd is quite narrow and only 1 vehicle can go down at once usually.

unfortunatly im glad as i am a wheelchair/scooter user and for me to keep going in the road its a pain if i could take a photo and get people a warning i would because people just dont think about the less fortunate ones also think of this"a man walking his dog ,the dog messes the pavement,a wheelchair user passes through the wheelchair user ends up with dog poo on his hand" realy funny isnt it but that same chap whos hands are semi paralised hugged and played with his daughter and due to the dog poo she went blind is it still funny? please think
sorry for the rant

yes people don't think that little bit more.
I agree,if you have a dog clean up the mess. I was coming back home other day infact, and these lads maybe 18-20 or so,they stood there letting the dog poo.I go to my kids who walking single file behind me ( this is same rd where everyone parks on path both sides ) watch the dog poo cos people don't clean it up. These lads just looked at me in disgust like I was in wrong.

Parking on pavements is common where I live, the roads and pavements are all narrow and there are big vans taking up half the pavement. It annoys me that I used to have to walk into the middle of the road with a pram to get around drivers who think they own the road and pavements!!! GRRRRR...
Don't even get me started with the dog poo issue, I am sick of chav parents walkin their kids and pitbulls to school and not cleaning up after their dogs. I'm dreading summer because it smells rank too.
With you all the way with this post Raptor. :)

I thought pitbulls are banned, even though a lot of people still have them and passing them off to folk as staffordshire bull terriers sort of thing so maybe they them or something.
There was 1 loose out other day outside my kid's school.
I'm totally fed up of dog poo.Loads people got staffordshire bull terriers here and they can hardly control them,9 out of 10 times you see a dog its one of them now here.

really bad but where we live all people park on the kerbs as no-one could get through if not...we dont have enough places to park and the houses here often have 2 or 3 cars..its not ideal but until the planners think more about it it will be inevitable :(
dog poo is a real problem as is kids on scramble bikes-but it was amusing to watch em being crushed on Tv the other night! I suffered for years not letting my kids play out cos of the scrambler kids.

Which 1 annoys me most out of dog poo or cars parked on paths?

Def dog poo, least you can move round and check the rd if your on foot easily if you can't get by a car parked on path. Dog poo you don't always see it,your kids could be fall in it,it could be dark due to poor lighting and more likely to stand in it on way home at night.
