Tips!

Everyone is different and different things work for different people.

Only weigh yourself once a week at the same time each week as your weight changes every few hours between meals, toliet trips, etc!

You should also get a cloth tape measure and measure various areas of your body to see if your shape is changing as sometimes your weight might not change but your shape could change a lot!

Areas to measure: Neck, Upper arm, Chest, Waist, Hips, Upper thigh, Calf, - getting a partner or friend to do this is helpful, take a copy of your results and re-test every couple of weeks!

Homemade soup is excellent - you know exactly whats in it, 75 % water and its filling!

Eat at least 3 meals a day, a good breakfast, lunch and a smaller dinner than usual, if your still hungry have a bowl of cereal.

Obvious tips:

Walk as much as possible, if you need an excuse just buy a dog!

If over-eating is a problem, just make less food than normal or put less on you plate.

Make a plan of meals for the week,

Use a shopping list for your weekly shop,

Dont drink fizzy juice, drink water / diluting Juice instead!

Take a pack lunch to work every day, make sure you dont buy snaks such as crisps or chocolate, Take some fruit instead!

Grill dont fry!

Give it a go, remember various things can influence weight change including medication, addictions, lifestyle, Job, family life so support is pretty helpful!

Dont expect instant results, the first two weeks can see a big change in some folk due to water retention being reduced, you really should give yourself 3 months to notice a difference.

Good luck!

Good tips IYDA.

Maximum you want to be loosing a week is 2lbs (fat). these people who loose more than this in a week, sorry but your not loosing fat. It's pretty hard to loose any more than 2lb. Someone i spoke to last week, "I lost 11lb last week" to which i replied, no you havn't. You have probably been starving yourself, and have depleted yourself of glycogen and water in your muscles.

Best exercise to do is steady cardio. If your after fat loss, then go for a WALK before breakfast.

If your not bothered about loosing muscle then go for a run whenever you like, however if you want to hold on to any muscle you have, then make sure your muscles are carb'd up before you go out on a run. The main FAT BURNING stage of any exercise is the hours AFTER you exercise - NOT during. During you use energy which is easily available to use (i.e. stored in the muscles (carbs, if not protein). This is why if your are not carb'd up and your doing anything intense then your body will break down protein (muscle) to use as energy, as stored fat takes too long to break down and get itself to the muscles for energy.

The hours after you exercise your breathing heavier, and this is where you mainly burn the most fat.

Feel free to PM me for any advice (muscle or fat related).

Remember, 2lb a week is a really good amount to loose. Initially if your starting dieting, expect to loose 3-5 or more lbs in the first week or so, but this will mainly be water etc.

It will mainly be water, and loss of glycogen from your muscles. But you have probably lost some fat there too. Would say 2lb fat, rest water. It's amazing how much water you store, and don't realise. Especially when you ill your body needs it more. So keep up the fluids!
#6
any guides on how to make these soups and what they should have in them, for example most people put bread and soup as one, so what would you use to replace the bread

Dump the bread, Just make a chicken / veg broth!

Water, Potato, leek, celery, carrots, black pepper, chicken stock, chicken portion, All in a pot simmer,

There are loads of variations, just see what you like and add it, make loads!

In a word yes. So becareful! Just don't go mad, eat good.

As your body has been a bit starved, any food it will get now it will sort of think 'ohhh foood! we havn't had as much lately we will have to store for when we need it'.

After a few days of eating properly again though you should be ok.

Well it depends on a lot of things how good you will bulk up and how big you could get. Some people just don't have the genes to get big. I'm a little like that myself, however still consider myself a decent enough size anyway, but if i wanted to get any bigger, i would have to look at doing some gear.

Have you already had a good bulk before? And was that your first time properly weight training? If you have bulked before then you will find it hard to put on muscle at all when you start bulking again. Progression will be slow compared to before hand where you were in your beginner stages, and your body responds extremely positive to any weight training, meaning you put on a stone of good muscle on easily within 4-6 months of starting training.

Beginner gains are great. After that though, you probably will be lucky to get 4lb a year good muscle growth, which can be demotivating when you spend hours in the gym a week.

But like i said depends on a lot of things.

can anyone answer something for me with regards to diets etc, there is a female member of our family who is real slim (she has been the same size since i can remember) but she cheats she has been using senekot since day dot, the thing is i try to tell her how bad it is and how it dont work (when deep down i am thinking it must work a bit as she has stayed so slim) but can anyone explain why it works and also maybe help me find alternatives for her, as i no for a fact it can cause internal damage
#23
how much senekot does she use? i mean does it effect here to have the runs?
#24
As some of you know im getting married in May so i have about 5 months so diet.
I started yesterday having eaten 2 toasts, bowl of cereal and a pork whole meal roll.

Today ive so far had a banana.

... im interested in the senekot... not JUST to loose weight but for motion issues. Does it make you go naturally?
#25
she said she takes around 6/7 a night, i aint really asked how it works lol but i have searched online and its 50/50 with people saying it dont/does work, from what i have read it makes you just go a a toilet every morning and makes you flush out some fat from what you have eaten, (the same as say certain fibre products boots sell)
#26
you see with that i would think its to much bread, for example i have only 1000 cals a day but that can cover a big breakfast and say some fish and loads of veg/salad etc

OMG......tell her she'll be more susceptible to bowel cancer :? it doesn't allow the body to process food normally and in the long run all of her organs will have damage especially her skin

if you eat a normal diet which includes your five a day then no-one should need senna unless they are on certain medications.

avoid breads, yeasts, too much refined sugar, drink more water, walk more, tummy massages, exfoliate in the bath/shower, more spicy food (I put chilli in soups etc)

am 5' 10 and a size 12, no serious weight fluctuations

as to weighing yourself..........dimensional dietary recording is much more noticeable, measure arm, leg, waist circumference
#28
yea but she wont listen as she thinks its working and its hard to say no it aint when you can see it must obviously work, but its like those who take diet pills they feel its more worthwhile being slim then being overweight even if you are taking things you shouldnt and taking massive risk's, the diet industry makes a mint with all these so called wonder drugs
#29
so 2 slices of bread and a small brown roll is too much bread in a day? omg
im gonna die!
#30
i need a diet plan oh and a chef to come and cook it for me!
#31
lol yea id geuss so (all do i am not diet expert) as the doctor (if you say got a diet plan) would try to make sure you remove as much bread as possible + look @ it like this bread is say 70 cals+ (depending on what bread it is etc) so thats 140 cals on the bread + butter for that you can have some say special k maybe a yogurt and some fruit & then the roll @ night was not a good idea as surely you must of been hank marvin so why not have loads of veg and salad maybe some brown rice (again not sure if to much rice is ok) and some grilled chicken or fish etc
#32
if you do need to have bread in your diet, make sure you are incl a natural probiotic/prebiotic in your diet too to maintain a healthy lactic acid environment in your tummy

if you intend to have alcohol, milk thistle will help your liver to remove toxins

brown rice is good, basmati is one of the best rices to eat, as with anything, avoid refined/processed foods
#33
i also after some advise from here started eating a lot of fake meat products (cant for the life of me remember what its called - you no they make burgers etc from it but it aint meat lol)
#34
Grassingtons do a range........I'm not a fan myself, used to eat a lot of quorn and soya products but soya has it's own health risks if you overindulge
#35
today ive had, banana for brekkie, for lunch i had a round of bread dipped in watery soup!( was awfull)
and tea ive had Small jacket potato with tuna.
