I started smoking when i was 15, i didnt get a boll ocking of my mam, which i should of done as that would have stopped me (very scary lady) I quit while i was pregnant, because it made me feel ill! I decided one day that was it i couldnt justify wasting money on cigs!!!! I snapped up what was left in the box and chucked them. I told my son (who was 3 at the time) that smoking was stupid and it made people die, everytime i fancied one i looked at him and realsied i didnt need to smoke!!! never looked back, i cannot stand the smell of the stuff, it makes me feel sick! filthy dirty smell habbit

having a ciggie is one of the only things i get to enjoy, i dont do drugs and i dont drink as i dont go out anymore due to having a gorgeous 7 month old. I could give up whenever i want but i choose not too, it is easy to give up, i gave up the day i found out i was pregnant and didnt smoke for the whole 9 months, and probably few more days after that before i actually bought some i dont smoke loads 20 fags can last me 3 or 4 days.

But top advice if someone does want to give up x

I used to smoke for 10 years, although I quite for nearly 2 years before, so it's not just about quitting, it's about keeping the willpower during stressful times etc.

I quit once again about 18 months ago when I joined the gym and felt a healthier new start but felt I still had to make changes and was contradicting my new lifestyle, only to be inserting poison into my own body and doing it willingly.

I had 1 cig back in February last year, when I was incenced by something that seems so trivial now but I was so angry, I just needed some stress relief and while I was smoking that 1 cig, I was just thinking...surely it's going to kick in sooner or later...surely it's going to calm down my anger....but it didn't.

Instead...I became even angrier....not because of the situation but because I had that cig and it didn't do anything other than break my streak of no smoking whatsoever in months but that's how I knew I'd never want another cig ever again...that's how I knew I had quit permanently.

I feel a lot healthier now, I feel I have a lot more stamina and don't cough like an old man and can smell natural smells again, which were all blocked off from cigs. :)

I started smoking at age 11, wasn't frequent at that age, but continued through teens, by the time I was 18 I was up to about 30 a day, I found out that I was pregnant with my 1st Daughter in the April of 2003 and haven't smoked since, didn't bother me to stop smoking as I had something to put my mind on and didn't bother me after I had her, have to say the most sickening thing I have ever seen is very heavily pregnant women who are in the labour ward standing outside the hospital with a fag in there mouths.

The smell of smoke now makes me sick, and I can smell it a lot easier than say my Partner who has never smoked.

My Mum/Mums BF/Dad/Aunty/Sister are all smokers, my Sister couldn't even stop whilst she was pregnant(despite me berating her everytime I talked to her).

I am at my Mum all the time to stop smoking, my Gran(her Mum) suffered for 3 years with Cancer before she died aged 69, her cancer was all down to the fags, I've told my Mum and my Sister umpteen times that if watching her suffer and die wasn't enough to make them quit then what the hell is.

My Mum is 51 and has 4 lovely GrandChildren, I just wish she'd see what shes doing to herself.

My Dad well he smokes 60 a day and I'm afraid theres no hope for him as hes also an Alcoholic.

My Sister she's still not stopped smoking, but then again neither has her waste of space BF.

I just give up with them to be honest, it might sound wrong that I'm on at them because I'm a previous smoker and well who am I to talk, but I just wish they would see what they are potentionally gonna miss out on if they dont stop.

wish my hubby would stop...

not even our lil boy picking up fag ends off the ground and pretending he can smoke just like dad seems to be enough to make him realise it's no good for me and the kids....

oh well guess that's an addiction for you.

Thats because cigarettes are a stimulant and will actually increase your heart rate.
