But I'd guess it would be OK to swap for something with Zero value.....but the way things work, either you or the swapee would fall foul of one rule or another!
#6
Yep, these can only be given now.

Silly in my eyes, I don't mind paying for them as I'm sure others don't.
#7
there are plenty of things that do not get sold anymore so therefore would come under the no retail value rule, but they still have a FAIR MARKET value, based on what say the 3 month one costs etc.

so you cant sell something that is no longer sold? lets make a list of everything that could be...

I can see about 6 items on page 1 of FS/FT that could be classed as no longer sold and therefore have no retail value....

I think people are wrong.

If you got one free when returning your xbox for repair, then no they can not be sold as you got it for free.

But if you wanted to sell the 1 month codes you brought for £4.99 when you could buy them a few years ago, then this is fine.

So the £4.99 codes you have found in your cupboard that you paid for years ago, you can sell them for no more than £4.99 and you would not be breaking the rules.

EDIT: I understand they are £6.99

Are are avaliable retail for £6.99 in a xbox pack.

They are still sold by MS in the US for $8

So they do have a retail value.

no your wrong, you cant sell any 1 month cards at all no matter when and how you got it.

I had a chat with ASB about this and he confirmed 1 month codes are no longer available to be sold on forums as they are only availble direct from Microsoft

I think its to stop 'profiteering'

So is this actually a rule enforced my the mod team on this site or is it just something someone said is now not allowed?

Refering to ASB as a mod, is giving him/her too much credit.

They can still be purchased I am linking to the UK sites for a retail package of the 1 month official retail code, they are £6.99.

So, as normal ASB does not know what he/she is saying..

I wouldn't go that far but I think the no retail value/rrp is just another half baked excuse to try and justify them being banned under the laughable "profiteering" rule.

The first link is in stock.

It is a silly rule about profiteering considering this site adds affiliate links to nearly ever deal posted, when people click on link to deal.

So if MS direct sell them, what is the issue??? MS still sell them in the US as a code snail mailed out.

So what would be the issue of selling 1 month xbox live codes I picked up from Best Buy in the US for $8 that are ok to use world wide on here for 5 quid, and email the codes off to you...

You can buy them in retail blister packs, so no problems.... Get selling... Escalate any issues from poor uninformed mods to a mod a little higher..

You can't purchase these cards from a reputable merchant here in the UK. You also can't sell something you've received free from microsoft or as an incentive to purchase e.g. with GTA IV.

It's doubtful that anyone has one lying around that they may have purchased. That said, if they provide proof of purchase then consideration will be given to allowing the item to be listed.

Spot on

This is a stupid rule. If someone is willing to pay £3 or £4 for one I see no problem with it. It's not a fortune and I for one would be happy to buy one even if someone got it for free.

Exactly, if the member being the buyer is WILLING to go ahead with paying money for the item, even in knowing that the item may have been part of a bundle or a free gift, this should disregard the profiteering rule.

This rule would be explotied to the max. We'd insist on having proof of purchase. It's not going to happen so stop playing around. You're making up scenarios that are highly unlikely to materialise.

Now you've shown your true colours I'll refrain from making any further comments that you might make on this matter until you've demonstrated a little more respect. You're comments are very rude indeed. A sad reflection on you.

What is respect... Maybe I overstepped the remark on that you don't understand the matter.

FACT : Xbox Live codes are available to purchase from online retailers in US or UK.
FACT : People paying a few quid for them are getting a bargain, and what they want. Everybody happy.
FACT : I refer to you as a he/she.. I don't know what sex you are?? My user name is CHIPTIVO, and I am neither a piece of fried potato or a consumer electronics device, so I can't make assumptions from your name, if I did refer to you as a male, I would get a telling off if you turned out to be a woman, and vice versa...

It's such a crappy rule, no-one is forced to buy anything, if someone is willing to pay it, what's the problem.

Profiteering will happen when someone sells something they received for nothing. That is a blanket rule we apply to all FS/FT Items, not just xbox live 1 month freebies.

#27
dcx_badass
But if someone is willing to pay it then what's the problem. They're not forced to buy it at that price.

And it is not necessarily a freebie, ASB is assuming that all 1 month xbl codes are, which they are not.

I don't see any problem, you're not forced to trade here. It's for getting rid of personal items surplus to requirements for no profit. If you don't agree with this free trading requirement then you're more than welcome to purchase elsewhere.

Try buying the physical retail card here in the UK, I've yet to see a link that offers this opportunity.
#29
Boring....arguing about it isn't gonna get anyone anywhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if people are selling these via PM's - as Chiptivo said, they are a bargain at a few quid and both parties are usually happy.
