1 Tesco clubcard point for every £2 spent on Petrol

THIS IS NOT A DEAL - BUT PLEASE READ ON BEFORE YOU VOTE!

Tesco must be feeling the credit crunch as they have halved the clubcard points on petrol. From the beginning of November you earn only 1 clubcard point for every £2 spent on petrol. To save you the calculations, this means that, when the price of petrol/diesel is over £1 as it is now, and you have the option of refueling at "Tesco" petrol @ 115.9p per litre and "Other" [email protected] per litre, you'll be better off refueling at "Other". Previously, taking the clubcard points into consideration, the “Tesco” petrol provided better value.

However, it would appear that if you use a Tesco credit card to buy fuel at their petrol stations you still earn 2 clubcard point for every £2 spent. In this case you are better off refueling at “Tesco”.

For the avoidance of doubt, if you purchase e.g. £35.99 worth of Tesco petrol and pay by cash, cheque or any other debit/credit card you will get 17 Clubcard points; Tesco credit card shoppers will get 35 points.

SO THIS IS MORE OF A TIP REALLY.

All clubcard members got sent a mailing about this over a month ago. This also included the move from x4 to x3 deals. Tesco fuel is carp anyway

I only got mine two days ago. And tesco don't tell that it's not worth buying fuel from them any more even when their price per litre is dearer by a penny. Can't comment on the petrol quality.

Depends what you do with your points..you suggest if the 'other' petrol is 1p cheaper then buy there but many people convert their points to deals which means 1 point = 3p

Have to admit I didn't think about this...probably because I've never intended to convert points to deals.

I buy my petrol in my village, it is always cheaper than my local ( greedy ) Tesco.

Same truck tankers deliver the fuel all over Scotland to different filling stations. It all comes from Grangemouth from the same bulk tanks no matter what brand name is on the road tankers.

I love this bit

Last quarters results
Tesco says its customers’ loyalty helped boost sales and profit during the first half of the year as the business benefits from “tailwinds of recovery”.

The supermarket chain recorded a 5.9% rise in sales to £21.8bn in the UK and 5% profit increase to £1,2bn for the six months ending 28th August.

Like-for-like sales, which exclude new stores and additional space, were up 0.3% which Tesco claims outperformed market performance
