I have a 10 month old medion akoya laptop from Sainsburys, it has a fingerprint reader on it and yesterday i noticed a piece of snapped plastic on the floor and could work out where it had come from, i was logging into my laptop today and i found where it had come from!!! there is a casing around the fingerprint reader that has snapped in half(as you have to rub your finger downwards it seems to be very flimsy) , its not impeding its performance (at the moment) and i really cant be offline as i have an online business,

What would anyone recommend, i dont want to take it back if they are going to send it away for repair as i cant be without a computer and i have no access to another, but im p****d off as i paid nearly £600 only last June, i know i have a years warranty but im in a catch 22 situation

Any advice? would they replace it or would they have to send it back to Medion? It also hasnt been manhandled as it is always in the same place on my desk and never moved

Personally, particularly if its the work computer, I'd live with it - frustrating but better than being without the laptop for a while...

I very much doubt they would replace the entire machine especially given it's such a minor part, it may be worth checking if it's a return to base warranty or onsite as one of the Medion machines I had unexpectedly had an onsite warranty. If it is return to base though I don't think you have much choice if you can't be without it although to be honest I don't think you should be relying entirely on a single machine which could die entirely and cause quite a few problems.

hi, you are entitled to a full refund if you have the reciept. google 'the sales of goods act 1981' for more info.

Onsite warranty means an engineer will visit your home/place of work to fix it rather than sending it away for repair.

Thanks for all you replies, i think i may put up with it,i have 2 months left on the warranty and if it gets any worse i will have to look at taking back for a repair etc,

hi sainsburys are quite good for refunds, why dont you contact the store of purchase and see what they have to say you can explain your position and see what they can say and to be honest they wont want unhappy customers like yourself who has spent a great deal of cash to spread the word of bad customer service, its worth a try also you may want to contact your credit card company if that was method of payment used
