Where?

It's been out a while now, it's not really a shocker that it was going to start dropping in price. I'm actually more surprised it has kept it's current price as long as it has.
#5
Yea if theres deals hitting £300 il be seriously tempted.

No chance at the current price
#6
Ill think about getting one for 300. It makes me feel bad for the people that bought them at the original price, as less then a year later they already lowered quite significantly lol

Don't feel sorry for people, the same thing's happened with just about every console release in living memory....if you can't wait or don't have the sense to then you're gonna get screwed, plain & simple.

Not entirely true. Well i mean yeah with all consoles it does go down in price. But not so quickly as it has done here if you know what i mean? At least most consoles go down roughly a year later. This hasnt even been that long lol

I'm waiting for the £50 Argos deal, just like the xBox :)

That was a bit Harsh :whistling: I've been waiting for years for the Commodore 64 to drop in price.

Rubbish.

Bought my PS3 on launch day, played Resistance & Motorstorm to death, bought F1 2006 also, three games not available on any other system.
I have a Blu-Ray player, one of the best on the market according to independant tests, and it upscales SD dvd's better than any upscaling player I have seen.

Im quite happy to have paid potentially £100 more for what I have recieved over and about what you have beein playing and watching for the past 6 months.

You only get screwed (as you put it) if you buy the machine and leave it sitting there doing nothing until any price drop.

Oh and for the record I have a Wii, 360 and PS3 so I have the best of all 3 worlds :)

Actually the original original Xbox had its priced dropped just one month and 12 days after the UK launch and the Gamecube had £20 knocked off its price 2 weeks before it was available here!

Two of the main consoles of the last generation and both reduced before they had sold out of their initial shipments.

Your arguement holds no water I am afraid.

I think the UK price cut will be announced on thursday.

My guess is it will RRP at £349.99 or £374.99.

But of course, us HUKD'ers will try and pay less after finding codes/discounts/quidco. If I can get one around the £300 mark I may go for it.
#17
£339.99 is my guess
#18
Ouch, according to The Sun, the new RRP is going to be £374.99.

Ouch, according to The Sun, the new RRP is going to be £374.99.

That makes sense, since the RRP before was £425, and since $100 is approx £50, it measures up.
#20
In france they are getting a bundle which includes

PS3 60gb + 2 controllers + Motostorm + Ristance = Euros 599, which works out about £405.
#21
some places are saying that due to some shops selling ps3 for 399 they wont reduce the price just bundle in a game or something for 425
and if they did this they would supply them to shops at a higher price aswel so they couldnt sell thewm for less than 425
lets just hope its a rumour
#22
Anyone who has a PS3 now, is it worth buying?
#23
Id say import it - region free isnt it anyway all you need is a voltage adaptor

But its cheaper than uk prices

But nowhere is legally allowed to import Sony products, plus you'd be highly likely to be stung by customs even if you did find somewhere that would.
#25
So Sony have confirmed there will be no price drop in Europe - just bundling a couple of games and an extra controller. What a shock....

And no release for the updated model over here either. What a shock...
#27
I actually think the bundle is a good deal, works out about £90 worth of extras.

Now if some shops still decide to sell this below the RRP then we can get a good deal.
#28
The PS3 seems expensive but for the amount of kit you get (Bluray, wi-fi, etc) makes it worth the extra.

If you add the price of the X360 HD add-on and the X360 official Wi-fi adapter, The PS3 is already a good price.

The Xbox wasn't that great imo and the Gamecube was a failure. Awful games. Relied on the usual Mario and Zelda and even they didn't save the day.

PS3 is probably the best console i've ever played. The backwards compatability means it's got most of the PS2 library of games, making it even better. Graphics are outstanding when you hook your PS3 up to a HDTV with a HDMI cable...

PS3 will win this console war. It's like the tortoise and the hare......

Don't think there's too many people who would argue that the PS3 is a good price for the actual hardware you're getting. But some people just want a good quality games console, and aren't that bothered about the extra kit - for them the PS3 is too pricey, and doesn't offer enough top level games at the moment.

But those who want to have and use all the extra features, rather than just games, the PS3 is a great piece of kit! It's each to their own I guess.

I own one and I only own resistance. Definately worth buying at a price you can afford. I have had a X360 and a Wii. The Wii is fun, but the 360 and me were just not meant to be.

Online play is excellent, anyone else here take resistance online?

on the news today..

they are bringing the price down by $100 but will be doing no such thing here, at least not planning to, instead they will be throwing a couple of games into the deal and say this is a better deal than $100 off.

I saw the same thing on BBC saying that they are most definately NOT going to reduce the price of the console in the UK for the forseeable future. No surprise there then.
#34
