I can't believe there is only 18 weeks to go till Christmas, has anyone started getting presents in?
Also what is the average amount you spend on gifts per person? as i have my 5 children, then with my partner 2 lots of parents, 2 step parents, 5 siblings 2 nieces 5 nephews 1 grandparent, 1 auntie and 5 cousins to buy for, and always end up spending a fortune over the Christmas time.

wow what a family
normally spend about £30 on each relative, then about £200 or so on the hubby and each of the 3 kids, so works out quite expensive. Although i'm trying to cut back this year by finding bargains on here that are worth about £30 for the relatives  & hopefully some bargains for hubby & kids
Do a secret santa with all the adults in so that you get one decent present not lots of little ones. Also only one to buy for then!
i have 5 too
i have finished with 4 of them nearly, but the eldest doesnt know what he wants yet
i have also finished for all the family
i spend about £300 on eldest kids younger ones i spend less
usually spend betwe £5-£7 on cousin etc
£15-£20 on nephews
about £20 on mum and dad

might ask the adults if they want to do the secret santa, as that sounds like a good idea, thanks.

Don't fret and worry. The fact that you use HUKD in the first place shows that you are a person of taste and distinction. Seriously set yourself a maximum budget each month and just buy appropriate presents when you see them here. I've done this and have almost finished my shopping. The biggest benefit of this is that when December rolls around you can agree to go to however amny parties and functions as you like, without fear of bancrupcy or mountainous debt, as you have bought bit by bit throughout the year. (stops for breath!)

I'm usually dead organised but I can't even begin to think about Christmas yet, I start my PhD in 4 weeks, and get married in 13 weeks! Christmas will be a hurried affair this year!
im looking forward to xmas more than ever as my little girl (due sep 6th) will be 3 months old, i know she wont know whats going on but i dont care just gives me an excuse to make xmas even bigger and better
my daughter was 5months old on her first xmas and I have to say..it was the most special xmas ever.......Hope u have a lovley time nd good luck with the baby:thumbsup:

Arrrrr thanks a lot, :cry:im welling up at the thought of it, am i soft or what
I dont know what it is, but I think the retailers are hinting about christmas this year already. The leaves are already falling off the trees lol due to the poor summer we have had.

Argos was the first last yer I believe, late september before the xmas bells were jingling.

This year things will be different, my wife is expecting so there will be another one to buy pressies for ! :d

10th Oct for my little boy !
I have (along with in-laws) 3 parents, 5 siblings, 1 husband, 2 daughters, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, 3 Aunties, 3 Uncles, 4 Cousins, 1 Grandparent & 14 Children to buy for, needless to say I usually end up spending around £1000, not good in the credit crunch.

However, I am one of the sad one's (or wise one's depending on who you talk to) that starts in the January sales to try and get some better presents and make a bit of a saving. I've got most things now, just the odd one to buy so need to start ebaying to raise some more funds. Usually spend around £100 each on 2 daughters, £40 each on family members and between £10-£30 on everyone else depending on how close to them we are.

All in all, I don't think it's easy to have a "cheap" christmas when you have a big family. I always think I should cut down but I LOVE XMAS and much prefer giving presents than receiving them so never regret how much I spend, would just like a bit more spare cash so it wasn't so tight!!
