Attending an awards ceremony in City Halls at end of October. Looking for one nights stay in local area. Taking a couple of team with me but wanting single accommodation. Using expotel through work with a nightly cap of around £120 each, so Hilton London Bridge is probably a no go (although expotel do get discounted rates).

I have tried tripadviser and the like but nothing jumps out at me. Would appreciate any recommendations otherwise i could end up anywhere.

Any time I go to London I always stay at the Strand Palace Hotel - its lovely and food great - I stay there as its so close to the theatres, but also close to the tourist attractions too.

There are tons of places so sure someone will pinpoint a perfect one for you!

I much prefer the Ritz with the thames view of course or Claridges :p

I have heard its quite exclusive but its really central with lots of staff. Excellent security. Used to catering for any tastes. Try Buck House (also known as The Palace). You will need to speak to Liz to check if she can put you up.

Thanks WoolyM and renown but not sure if a weegie of my standing would be welcome at these establishments (was hard enough getting invites to the do), especially not at £120 per night.

The Strand looks good and very reasonable, bossyboots. Thanks. Was looking for something closer to venue but i suppose in London that is relatively local.

Ah, but it won't let me book for anything less than two nights.
