i checked on their website for a ds and there was some in stock so i went down to the store but apparently they wer out of stock :x has that ever happened to any1?

Yes, sounds like you didn't reserve one. Whenever I have reserved, they have always had the items.

The easiest way to tell would have been to check the site when you got back to see if they were still showing as instock.

I am going to assume you checked the availability in the particular store you were going to - and not just wether it was in stock on the website in general?

Only takes a minute to reserve something, plus its non binding, so even if you didnt make it you wouldnt be held to it. Would have been worth the extra effort required.

the reason i didnt reserve it was because u need to wait an hour for the shop to reserve1 for u, i just went on the site now and it says the ds are in stock at my nearest store but it aint so...?

I don't quite understand why you say you have to wait for an hour. Having visited the website, i can't find anything that says that you cannot collect the item as soon as you've made the reservation. Try making the reservation now, make a note of the reservation number, and go to Argos tomorrow. If there is still any dispute, you could try negotiating some sort of compensation for your inconvenience. I have never reserved something though, and then found it not to be in stock. It could also be, that they were out of stock when you were in the shop, but have stock arrived in the meantime...

I use to work for Argos and their computer system was always very good, it updated automatically. It was very rare to have a customer complain that they had reserved an item and when they came in to collect it was out of stock. I doubt you would have got any compo if you complained about the item not being in when you came to buy instore originally as they would say the whole reason for their reserve service is so things like that don't happen. Hope you get what you want soon :thumbsup:

I think you're possibly thinking of the PC World reserve service, they ask that you leave an hour between reserving and pick-up. This is so they have the time to go onto the shop floor and take the item off of sale - so no-one else can pick it up and buy it instead. As the majority of Argos stock is not on public display, there are no issues with reserved stock getting bought by another customer. the reservation is purely on the store's computer system - even though it stays on the warehouse shelf, the system will 'move' the item to reserved and therefore out of the 'available stock' for customers to buy!

Last month I reserved an item, went to collect it and after 20 mins they said they couldn't find it :x

Have to admit it's the first time it's happened and I use the reserve item quite a lot.
